On October 12, Mr. Phan Van Ban - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade (VTC) said that the industry trade union is directly managing and directing 15 grassroots trade unions and 506 affiliated grassroots trade unions, with 142,646 union members/147,456 workers.
According to Mr. Phan Van Ban, in the past 3 months, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour has directed and guided all levels of trade unions to promptly deploy activities in accordance with the practical situation to complete production and business plans and political tasks; fully and promptly deploy social security policies; care for the lives of union members and workers; supervise and participate in supervising the implementation of labor laws, social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance, wages, bonuses, etc. related to union members and workers.
Thanks to that, the production and business efficiency, the life of the Party members and employees in the industry continued to develop and improve, completing the production and business plan and political tasks. Foreign affairs activities were focused on, consolidating and enhancing solidarity, friendship and cooperation with international partners. As of September 30, the whole industry had no labor disputes leading to collective work stoppages.
Implementing the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the direct superior trade unions at the grassroots level and the grassroots trade unions under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour organized "Union Meals" for 44,877 union members and employees in the unit's kitchens. The total amount spent on "Union Meals" in 2024 in the entire Vietnam General Confederation of Labour system is approximately 4.5 billion VND.
Of which, the direct superior trade union at the grassroots level spent 40.2 million VND, the grassroots trade union spent 1.683 billion VND; the expertise of the grassroots trade unions spent 2.650 billion VND and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor spent 122.225 million VND.
“Many units have integrated the content of giving gifts to union members and employees in difficult circumstances; giving moon cakes to 100% of union members and employees; some units organize congratulations and give gifts to union members and employees whose birthdays are in the month; many units organize propaganda with billboards, slogans... to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union at the locations where the "Union Meal" is held.
