On the afternoon of October 1, the leaders of the Group and the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Union (TKV) organized a fund-raising ceremony to support workers of Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company and Nam Mau Coal Company (Quang Ninh) affected by storm No. 3 (YAGI).
Representatives of the Group's leaders and the TKV Trade Union presented VND 1,042 billion to support 93 union members and employees of Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company who suffered losses due to storm No. 3. Of which, VND 382 million was from the TKV Trade Union's financial resources in 2024 and VND 660 million was from the TKV Welfare Fund in 2024.
At the ceremony, Chairman of the Union of Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company - Vinacomin Nguyen Tien Nhuong said that when the storm hit Quang Ninh, the experts and the Union directed and coordinated the implementation of storm prevention and response work and quickly overcame the consequences and stabilized production.
At the same time, we visited and immediately supported a family of a worker who died due to the storm, went to the families of workers to grasp the damage situation and promptly supported 3 million VND/family whose houses collapsed, had their roofs blown off, were flooded and had rocks and soil slide into their houses.
Along with that, the union coordinated to survey and summarize the damage to people and property, and proposed that the TKV Union provide subsidies to 93 families of workers who suffered heavy damage due to storm No. 3.
The company also supported hundreds of vehicles, machines and human resources to help the locality overcome the consequences of the storm, support the electricity industry to fix the damaged power lines to soon put the power grid into operation, stabilize production and people's lives. In addition to the support amount from TKV, the Director and the Company's Trade Union also have additional forms of support for employees.
At Nam Mau Coal Company, the TKV Trade Union leaders presented 2,293 billion VND (of which 703 million VND came from the TKV Trade Union fund and 1.59 billion VND came from the TKV Welfare Fund) to 201 employees of Nam Mau Coal Company affected by storm No. 3.
Among the 201 cases of workers who suffered major damage caused by storm No. 3, 2 families whose houses collapsed were supported with 70 million VND/family, 110 families whose houses had their roofs completely blown off were supported with 13 million VND/family, and the remaining families whose houses had their roofs blown off by 50% to less than 100% and whose houses were flooded over 1.5m were supported with 8 million VND/family.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh, Vice President of TKV Trade Union, said that TKV Trade Union directed the Trade Unions of the units to survey, grasp the damage and provide initial support to the affected workers immediately after the storm. Next, the Trade Unions of the units were assigned to survey and compile the families of workers affected by the storm to have a plan to support workers from two financial sources of TKV Trade Union and the Group's Welfare Fund in 2024.
In addition to the amount of money that TKV Trade Union directly gave to support and encourage workers right after storm No. 3, TKV Trade Union continued to transfer funds to support workers and authorized Trade Unions of units to organize direct distribution to workers (in cash).
The level of support for houses that have collapsed or completely collapsed and cannot be repaired and must be rebuilt is 70 million VND/case (of which TKV Trade Union pays 50 million VND; TKV Welfare Fund pays 20 million VND). The level of support for houses with 100% damaged roofs is 13 million VND/case (of which TKV Trade Union pays 3 million VND; TKV Welfare Fund pays 10 million VND)...
