Many people believe that green papaya and botox can instantly remove wrinkles and crow's feet from the skin, or remove acne and improve skin pigmentation. However, which option is better for the skin is still a concern for many.
Regarding this, Dr. Karuna Malhotra, cosmetic doctor and beauty expert at Rajouri Garden Dermatology and Healthcare Clinic (New Delhi, India) said that comparing the effectiveness of green papaya with botox on the skin is not easy because they have very different functions.
Botox
According to Dr. Karuna Malhotra, Botox is known to be a method that can remove wrinkles and prevent signs of aging. Botox is injected into the muscles of the face to limit muscle contraction and help the muscles relax.
Mechanism: Botox works by temporarily paralyzing muscles. It is commonly used in cosmetic dermatology to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and crow's feet by preventing the muscle contractions that cause them.
Effects: Botox provides quick and temporary results, usually lasting 3 - 6 months, with a significant reduction in expression wrinkles (also known as dynamic wrinkles, a type of wrinkles caused by facial movements).
Procedure: This is an injection treatment, performed by experts, cosmetic doctors.
Green papaya
Green papaya is rich in enzymes like papain, antioxidants and vitamins A, C and E. These components help:
Exfoliation: Papain breaks down dead skin cells, promoting skin regeneration.
Antioxidant effects: Vitamin C and other antioxidants fight free radicals that cause skin aging.
Moisturizes and brightens skin: The nutrients contained in the product can help improve skin texture, moisture, and brightness.
Benefits: Green papaya is beneficial for skin health when applied to the skin or eaten, but its benefits will have to accumulate over time.
“It can't target deep wrinkles or give the same immediate, dramatic results as Botox,” says Dr. Malhotra.
While green papaya is great for maintaining healthy skin due to its natural exfoliating and antioxidant properties, it does not work like botox and is not a substitute for medical procedures.
“Botox targets wrinkles related to muscle movement, while green papaya improves the overall health and appearance of the skin,” notes Dr. Malhotra.
