In February 2025, I went to Bac Giang Urban Construction Management Joint Stock Company (old Bac Giang province, now Bac Ninh province) to record the daily work of Ms. Do Thi Hien - a street cleaner. This is a Party member, an outstanding worker, and was commended by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Because there was no specific contact information, I asked Mr. Nguyen Quyet Chien - specialist of the Propaganda and Women's Union (former Bac Giang Provincial Labor Federation). Thanks to his extensive relationship with his propaganda work, he helped me get the phone number of the company's department-level staff. From this phone number, I contacted to book a work schedule, ensuring the business trip was successful. Without this propaganda staff, the reporter's work would have taken many more stages and taken a lot of time.
Not only writing, I also filmed a video of Ms. Hien working on the street. Knowing the information that I was working, Mr. Nguyen Quyet Chien came and enthusiastically supported me. The weather was very cold that day, but he did not hesitate to help. He took the camera to help me film and complete the work of leading the scene. From this support, I have completed the assigned work, with newspaper and video products published on Lao Dong.
Mr. Chien shared that as a propaganda officer, he often works as a "reporter", collecting information, taking photos of events of the Bac Giang Trade Union to promptly and quickly post on the website of the Provincial Labor Federation.
I often prepare background information for events in advance, then, when the event takes place, I take photos and quickly update them to the electronic information page Mr. Chien said. Thanks to this method, many times when a new event takes place, the website of the Provincial Federation of Labor has posted articles, causing many reporters to "use" this professional method.
There are events of the Bac Giang Provincial Trade Union, although reporters are not present, the information is still posted quickly and promptly in the Bac Giang Provincial Trade Union section of Lao Dong Electronic Newspaper. The enthusiasm of the propaganda staff has contributed to the information of the Bac Giang Provincial Trade Union being complete and diverse, reflecting many meaningful activities and caring for union members and workers.
In many other times, Mr. Chien also enthusiastically connected with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters about suitable characters to write articles. I remember once when I mentioned my desire to write about a businessman or business that cares well for workers. After reviewing, with information gathered from union activities, he connected with the District Labor Federation, introducing me to a business/businessman that is very suitable for the criteria. From this connection, my colleague and I have an informative article published in a special issue of Lao Dong Newspaper.
Another time, when we were assigned to write an article about the effectiveness of the Trade Union Shelter program, we wanted to find a character whose life had changed for the better after receiving support. Hearing my wish, Mr. Chien immediately opened radar and immediately found a case of a female preschool teacher.
He said that he had worked at the district union before, so he knew about this incident. Not only that, he also attended the inauguration ceremony of the Trade Union Shelter, so he clearly understood her situation. Thanks to this timely connection, I called to ask for information and instructed the female teacher to send a picture of her current house to have a touching article about the changes in the lives of union members after many years of receiving the Trade Union Shelter.
Always improve your writing skills
At the Vietnam Health Trade Union, for events that reporters do not attend, propaganda staff provide information and images quickly and promptly for reporters to write articles and articles on Lao Dong Newspaper. Without them, the reporter's work would take more time and effort. They are the ones who silently stand behind news lines and articles about the Trade Union organization and workers. Although not reporters, many of them are enthusiastic about bringing the latest, fastest and most accurate information to readers.
