The Social Insurance Agency has proactively coordinated with the local People's Committee to issue health insurance cards in a timely manner for Mr. L.Q.N.
Regarding the case of Mr. N whose labor contract was terminated, leading to no social insurance or health insurance, forcing him to pay for dialysis (currently Mr. N has stage 5 kidney failure), causing a stir in public opinion in recent times, My Xuyen District Social Insurance (under the Social Insurance of the XXX region, including Can Tho - Soc Trang - Hau Giang province) said that it has proactively coordinated with the People's Committee of My Xuyen town (Soc Trang province) to issue a timely social protection health insurance card to Mr. L.Q.N.
Mr. Tran Minh Trong - Director of My Xuyen District Social Insurance - added that from February 5, 2023, Mr. L.Q.N signed a fixed-term labor contract with CP. Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company (headquartered in Dong Nai province), worked at the Fresh Shop My Xuyen food store and was registered by the unit to participate in compulsory social insurance at Dong Nai Provincial Social Insurance. Previously, Mr. N was granted a health insurance card under the social protection subsidy group.
However, from January 1, 2025, C.P. Livestock Joint Stock Company. Vietnam has decided to terminate the labor contract with Mr. N. At the same time, it is required that the social insurance agency of the XXVIII area (Dong Nai - Binh Phuoc province) closed the social insurance book and stopped paying social insurance for the UK. The termination of the above labor contract caused Mr. L.Q.N's health insurance card to be exhausted at the time when he was undergoing serious treatment.
On the afternoon of June 3, Mr. N went to the hospital for a periodic dialysis. The hospital's staff checked the system and found that his health insurance card had expired. Therefore, he had to take out about 700,000 VND in his wallet to pay for dialysis, instead of being paid 100% by the Social Insurance agency like previous dialysis.
When information about Mr. N's case was reported by the press, realizing that the health insurance benefits of workers were interrupted in especially difficult circumstances, My Xuyen District Social Insurance proactively and quickly coordinated with My Xuyen Town People's Committee to review and guide the completion of health insurance card issuance procedures according to regulations. Thanks to the close and proactive coordination between the government and the Social Insurance agency, Mr. N's health insurance card has been newly issued and is valid from June 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025, ensuring uninterrupted health insurance examination and treatment benefits.
In particular, the local Social Insurance agency also coordinated with Hoang Tuan General Hospital - where Mr. N had dialysis, to re refund all health insurance costs for his dialysis on June 3, 2025 before that.
It is known that during the previous long period of dialysis treatment, the health insurance fund paid Mr. N a total of more than 200 million VND. This is a meaningful number for the patient's family, especially in the context of increasing medical costs.
Mr. N's timely and timely support for a health insurance card not only adds hope and confidence to help him overcome his illness firmly, but also a clear demonstration of his pioneering role in social security of the health insurance policy - one of the superior social policies of our Party and State, with the consistent goal of caring for people's health, leaving no one behind.
Advising and supporting him to participate in voluntary social insurance if he is qualified
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan - Director of Social Insurance Area XX, in the coming time, Social Insurance Area will direct My Xuyen District Social Insurance to continue to monitor Mr. L.Q.N's case to promptly coordinate with local authorities in extending health insurance cards.
Thereby, ensuring that his health insurance benefits are maintained continuously and without interruption. At the same time, the Social Insurance agency will also proactively advise and support him to participate in voluntary social insurance if he is qualified, gradually expanding the social security net, helping him have a long-term support in both income and health care when he is no longer able to work.
