Timely support for people in difficult circumstances
Mr. Nguyen Sy Truong - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi - said that the activities to support the poor and the social security program implemented by the Hanoi Fatherland Front Committee have been highly effective.
On the occasion of Lunar New Year, all levels under the Hanoi Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee supported 76,831 gifts worth over VND 47.389 billion to poor and disadvantaged households. In particular, the program "Spring of Love - Sharing Tet" in Chuong My district presented 4,049 gifts worth VND4.230 billion to poor, near-poor households and policy families.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of districts, towns and wards have used the "For the Poor" Fund and mobilized agencies and enterprises to support 72,782 gifts worth over VND43.159 billion for near-poor and disadvantaged households. The city's socio-political organizations have presented more than 110,945 gifts worth over 79.1 billion VND to union members, association members and workers in difficult circumstances.
According to the assessment of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, in the first quarter of 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels and member organizations have proactively developed and implemented annual work plans in conjunction with local political tasks. Key tasks were identified and implemented effectively, achieving many outstanding results.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels has stepped up propaganda activities to celebrate major holidays of the Capital and the country, as well as propagating to Party Congresses at all levels towards the 18th Hanoi City Party Congress and the 14th National Congress of the Party.
Patriotic emulation movements and campaigns are focused, especially social security, take care of the poor and social policy beneficiaries, and take care of the material and spiritual life for union members and members on the occasion of the Lunar New Year. Helping people in need escape poverty sustainably
Ms. Pham Thi Bong, a member of the Veterans Association of Nghiem Xuyen commune, Thuong Tin district, Hanoi, is in a particularly difficult situation. She herself was often sick, raising her children alone, and did not have enough money to build her own house.
Faced with Ms. Pham Thi Bong's difficult circumstances, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and the People's Committee of Nghiem Xuyen commune have proposed that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuong Tin district agree to support the construction of a Great Unity house for Ms. Pham Thi Bong's family.
At the end of 2024, Ms. Bong's family started building a house and received support from the Party Committee, government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the commune, relatives and villagers. Currently, the Great Unity house of Mrs. Pham Thi Bong's family has been basically completed, ensuring quality, with an area of 60m2; the total estimated cost is more than 450 million VND. Of which, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuong Tin district supported 50 million VND.
According to Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuong Tin district Nguyen Tuan Dung, implementing the Great Solidarity house building program, from the beginning of 2024 to now, the district has built 134 houses, of which 54 houses have received support from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi.
In recent years, Thuong Tin district has mobilized from many social sources and the "For the Poor" Fund to build and repair houses, implementing the motto of rolling out. Households with housing needs will be supported with construction funding by the district after the survey.
In March, Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, visited Thuong Tin district to present a refrigerator to her family, congratulating Ms. Pham Thi Bong on her new, spacious house.
