Step by step "covering" trade unions at enterprises
In May 2026, in the vibrant emulation atmosphere of workers nationwide responding to Workers' Month 2026, the Trade Union of Vietnam Innova Co., Ltd. (VSIP Industrial Park) was officially established with 107 union members. At the time of establishment of the trade union, the company had only been operating for 2 months and was in the trial operation phase.
The establishment of the company's Trade Union right from the early stages of development has shown the enterprise's determination to build a harmonious working environment, promote collective strength and accompany employees on the long-term development journey.
Mr. Peng Guo Zong - Deputy Director of the Company - said that with the development orientation based on technological innovation, market expansion and improved competitiveness, the enterprise identifies the Trade Union organization as an important bridge, contributing to arousing creativity and solidarity of employees. The Company is committed to accompanying and creating favorable conditions for the trade union to operate effectively, thereby building a harmonious and stable working environment, ensuring the rights of employees and towards sustainable development.
Along with activities to care for union members and workers during Workers' Month, trade unions of communes, wards, and special zones also accelerate the development of union members and establish grassroots trade unions in the spirit of "where there are workers, there are trade unions".
In May, Thien Huong Ward Trade Union established grassroots trade unions at 5 enterprises, admitting 119 workers at companies who are trade union members. Thuy Nguyen Ward Trade Union established 5 grassroots trade unions with 150 union members, raising the total number of union members monitored and managed by the Ward Trade Union to nearly 4,500 union members. Hong Bang Ward Trade Union mobilized the establishment of 6 grassroots trade unions, reaching 67% of the annual plan, and developing 223 new union members.
New development of more than 17,500 union members
Statistics from the Hai Phong City Labor Federation, as of May 30, trade union levels have newly established 213/210 grassroots trade unions, reaching 101% of the annual plan. The total number of newly developed union members reached 35,415 people, including 14,346 union members at 213 newly established grassroots trade unions and 21,069 union members admitted to units that already have trade union organizations.
Specifically, during Workers' Month - the peak month of union member development, trade union levels established 116 grassroots trade unions and newly developed 17,534 union members. In which, the Industrial Zone Trade Union Board developed 10,015 union members, and trade unions of communes, wards, and special development zones developed 7,519 union members.
To achieve the goal of developing at least 60,000 union members in 2026, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation requests units to link union member development and establishment of grassroots trade unions with consolidating and improving the effectiveness of trade union activities.
Based on social insurance contribution data, units continue to review and statistically survey established and unestablished enterprises that are eligible to establish grassroots trade unions to coordinate in developing union members and fostering outstanding union members to introduce to the Party.
The City Labor Federation will also establish working groups to work with commune-level Party committees and Fatherland Fronts to remove obstacles for commune, ward, and special zone trade unions; and at the same time improve the quality of trade union officials at all levels.
