Storm No. 10 with strong intensity and floods caused heavy damage to people and property of workers in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh provinces. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has been implementing many timely support activities, encouraging victims to overcome difficulties.

Timely encouragement and sharing

On the afternoon of October 1, the working delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor led by Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Central Trade Unions, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Party Secretary, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor directly presented gifts to support union members and workers affected by storm No. 10 at a number of enterprises in Nghe An.

At Luxshare-ICT Company Limited (Nghe An), the delegation presented 500 million VND from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to support union members and workers in the whole province to overcome difficulties after storms and floods. At the same time, 12 union members of the company that suffered direct losses were given support of 2 million VND/person. In particular, worker Ngan Thi Luong was given 50 million VND to build a "Union Shelter".

Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized: Each gift today not only has material meaning but also the affection and sharing of the Trade Union organization nationwide for union members and workers in Nghe An. We hope that employees will soon stabilize their lives, feel secure in production, and continue to accompany businesses to overcome difficulties.

A representative of Luxshare-ICT Company expressed his gratitude for the attention of the Trade Union organization and affirmed that this is a great source of encouragement for workers to stick together and make more efforts after natural disasters. Then, at Tan Hai Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company (Nam Cam Industrial Park), the working delegation presented support gifts from Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor to workers affected by storm No. 10.

Mr. Kha Van Tam - Chairman of Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor - affirmed: "The Trade Union organization will continue to accompany and practically care for members and employees, especially when they encounter difficulties due to natural disasters and floods".

On the same afternoon, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the working delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor visited, encouraged, and shared the difficulties and losses with union members and workers affected by storms and floods in Ha Tinh province. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Vice President of the General Confederation of Labor presented 200 million VND to support union members and workers in Ha Tinh province who suffered losses due to storm No. 10. At Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Company Limited, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung also presented support from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to 10 union members affected by storm No. 10, each union member received 2 million VND.

Sharing the losses and difficulties of workers, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Xuan Hung kindly visited and encouraged workers to try to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives. The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also requested that trade unions at all levels in the province and organizations in the Vietnam Fatherland Front continue to pay attention, encourage and share promptly so that workers can soon overcome difficulties and return to production.

Receiving sincere words of encouragement and timely gifts from the Trade Union organization, the workers were very moved. I dont know what else to say, I was very touched when the leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor directly visited and gave me gifts of encouragement. I am very grateful that the Trade Union organization always stands side by side with workers in their daily working life as well as in times of trouble and hardship - Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Yen - a worker at Hieu Thuan Company, in charge of the Women's Union, said emotionally.

Ms. Yen's house in Hoanh Son ward (old Ky Phuong) was blown away completely by storm No. 10, the roof of the old house was cracked and the walls were waiting to collapse. After fleeing the storm, she and her two young children had no place to live and had to stay at her brother's house.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa - a worker at Viet Hai Asphalt Company in Vung Ang Ward and Ms. Vuong Thi Thuong - a worker at Thuan Loc Construction Materials Manufacturing Company both had their roofs blown off.

Difficulty in material things after storms and floods

In Thanh Hoa, according to a quick report from the Provincial Federation of Labor, 3 workers died due to storms and floods. They are worker Bui Thi Thuc, (born in 1988, residing in Ngoc Linh ward, a worker at Annora Shoes Co., Ltd.) who had an accident due to a storm on her way to work; worker Pham Van Thang, also from Annora Shoes Co., Ltd., drowned on September 29 and worker Nguyen Thi Thanh - Truong Thang Company Limited in Nong Cong commune, whose boat capsized and died while trying to move to a safe place.

The list of statistics is not complete, the number of workers who suffered property damage as of October 1 in Thanh Hoa province has reached nearly 200 cases with a total estimated loss of more than 10 billion VND.

Many workers' families had their roofs blown off and all their assets washed away, such as workers Lo Thi Chuyen, Nguyen Thi Ngan - H2H Forestry Company, Hai Binh Ward, who suffered hundreds of millions of VND in damage when many valuable assets were swept away by floods...

Truong Thang One Member Co., Ltd. in Nong Cong commune had its entire factory flooded, causing damage estimated at billions of VND. Dremf Vina Company was also flooded, machinery was damaged, and is currently not operating, forecast to have to stop operations for about a week to repair machinery, causing great damage to property. Phu Nong Production and Trading Joint Stock Company suffered about 500 million VND in damage due to flooded raw materials, factory roofs blown off...

Currently, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor has been collecting statistics and directing trade unions at all levels to visit and promptly encourage union members and workers facing difficulties and losses due to storms and floods. It is expected that on October 2, a working group of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will visit Thanh Hoa to visit, share, encourage and support union members and workers.

Vingroup urgently supports 500 billion VND to people affected by storm Bualoi

On October 1, Vingroup Corporation informed that the group had just sent an urgent dispatch to the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Fatherland Front proposing emergency support of VND500 billion to people affected by storm Bualoi.

The relief will be implemented immediately from October 1 to promptly share difficulties and support people in localities to quickly stabilize their lives after natural disasters.

Vingroup will provide emergency support to all provinces, cities and communes directly affected by storm Bualoi, focusing on three main groups of beneficiaries: Families with people killed by the storm; families whose houses were completely collapsed and families of meritorious people, war invalids and martyrs, and households in especially difficult circumstances whose houses had their roofs blown off by the storm.

Families with dead or missing people: The support amount is 100 million VND/dead or missing person. Families whose houses were completely collapsed: The support amount is 60 million VND/household. Families of meritorious people, war invalids and martyrs and households in special difficulties whose houses have had their roofs blown off: The support amount is 20 million VND/household.

The total minimum support budget is 500 billion VND and Vingroup is committed to increasing the budget if the actual damage level exceeds the estimate.

Consecutive storms 8, 9, 10 and floods caused by the storm have killed many people and left many people missing. Many houses and production and business establishments had their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage. People across the northern and central mountainous provinces are struggling to cope with floods and heavy losses in human lives and property due to floods and thunderstorms.
