Warm sharing
Ms. Vu Thi Lieu, born in 1981, engineer of the National Remote Sensing Station (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) is 1 of 10 workers and laborers who were given gifts on the occasion of "Day for Workers' Health" (Day of the Workers).
Ms. Lieu said that she has had diabetes for 24 years, kidney failure since 2013, hemodialysis since January 2018, then heart attack requiring coronary stent placement from October 2020. Poor health due to prolonged illness, the job only tries to ensure working hours, so Ms. Lieu's salary is 9 million VND/month. She and her husband together shoulder the burden of raising their son who is in 12th grade.
Receiving a gift at the Festival, which was a gift bag and 5 million VND in cash, Ms. Lieu was very touched. "I have been sick for many years, and my economy is difficult because of worrying about medicine and treatment. Receiving a gift from the union on the occasion of the Festival, I feel comforted, shared a lot, and more confident" - Ms. Lieu confided.
Also receiving gifts and 5 million VND in cash, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, born in 1984, a worker at Hosiden Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Quang Chau Industrial Park, Bac Ninh province) shared "happy to the point of crying".
Ms. Hien was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer at the end of 2025. Ms. Hien is the main breadwinner in the family, her husband is in poor health and unemployed. Not to mention, she has to raise 2 children and an elderly mother who is sick and out of working age. Also due to illness, Ms. Hien does not work overtime but only does administrative work, so her salary is 7.5 million VND/month. Notably, her examination and drug purchase costs currently cost at least 5 million VND/month. “Receiving this 5 million VND, I feel more secure because I have money for medical expenses for the next month. Coming to the Festival, I just met workers, got health advice and received money and gifts. I feel much warmer amidst the busyness of life...” - Ms. Hien said emotionally.
The happiness of the giver
Not only workers and laborers receiving gifts at the Festival feel warm, but even officials, union members, and laborers who came to the Festival to donate blood - those who "give" - also feel warm because they are shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Nga, official of the Trade Union Affairs Committee (Vietnam General Confederation of Labor) said: "After registering for blood donation three times and being disqualified because I am not healthy enough, today I have "crossed the line" successfully, I am very happy because I finally completed the goal of participating in blood donation. I hope to have enough health to continue sharing my blood with patients in the coming times.
Speaking at the Festival, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour - affirmed the role of the Trade Union organization in caring for and protecting workers, contributing to reducing the burden of disease, improving the quality of human resources, and promoting sustainable development. "This is also an activity to concretize the policy orientation of Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo to strengthen communication and mobilize union members and workers to raise awareness and change behavior towards practicing a healthy lifestyle, regularly exercising physically, and proactively preventing diseases, especially occupational diseases" - Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said.
In addition, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu emphasized the message that in the forms of caring for workers, health care must be the first task of the Trade Union organization. The idea of integrating voluntary blood donation activities into the "Day for Workers' Health" shows the concern and sharing of the Trade Union organization, union members, and workers with blood donation activities of profound humanitarian significance.
At the Day, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong - Deputy Minister of Health - acknowledged the efforts of the Trade Union organization in directing and responding to World Health Day and National Health Day.
More than just an event, it's a command from the heart
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong - Deputy Minister of Health - assessed: "Day for Workers' Health" 2026 is not just a simple medical event, but a testament to the understanding and close companionship of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor with union members' lives. Gifts, health insurance cards and even drops of blood have created a beautiful picture of responsibility and compassion, contributing to building a healthy and happy working community.
At the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Lien Huong directly presented the mascot and encouraged blood donors. The image of workers sharing a drop of blood contributes to spreading the spirit of solidarity and compassion; each unit of blood is a life hope for patients. Le Ha
