Trade union awards scholarships, supports livelihoods at Lang Son border

Lang Son - 70 disadvantaged students in Dong Dang commune were awarded scholarships, and a family was supported with 50 million VND to build a livelihood model.

On September 14, in Dong Dang commune, Lang Son province, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) coordinated with a number of units to organize the program "Accompanying Border Women".

Attending were Ms. Thai Thu Xuong - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; leaders of the Provincial Labor Federation, Dong Dang commune, Bao Lam Border Guard Station and representatives of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) - Lang Son Branch.

At the program, the organizers awarded scholarships to 70 students in difficult circumstances in the area, each worth 1 million VND. These scholarships contribute to helping them have more learning conditions in the new school year.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nha's family, in Khon Keo village, was supported with 50 million VND to build the "Garden - Pond - Pond" model, creating more conditions for production development and improving life.

The total cost of awarding scholarships and supporting livelihood models is 120 million VND.

On this occasion, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and units visited, encouraged and presented gifts to officers and soldiers of Bao Lam Border Guard Station.

Through activities to support education and livelihoods, the program contributes to caring for women and children in difficult circumstances, and implementing social security work in border areas.
