Exciting and diverse activities right from the grassroots
Currently, the Da Nang City Labor Federation (LDLD) only has 2 specialized departments and directly manages specific grassroots unions, while 24 newly established commune and ward unions in areas with a large number of union members.
According to Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City, President of the Da Nang City Labor Federation, this model will help the Trade Union organization " follows reality closely, get closer to union members and workers, thereby being able to take more practical care, grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the grassroots more quickly".
Ms. Linh emphasized at the Conference to establish 24 commune and ward unions in Da Nang in early July 2025: "The important thing is that after the merger, commune and ward unions are not only pure administrative management but also become a connecting center, a place to directly bring support activities, welfare and spiritual culture to each union member".
In reality, that determination has been quickly realized through a series of exciting and practical activities of commune and ward trade unions right after the launch. Typically, in Ngu Hanh Son ward, the union has trained union officials and professional skills for union members of independent preschool unions. Not only theoretical, the training session also helps preschool teachers grasp the skills of preventing accidents and injuries, initially handling incidents with children - a content that is both professional and shows concern for the safety of children and workers in the preschool education sector.
Also in that vibrant atmosphere, the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park Trade Union coordinated with businesses to organize a free motorcycle oil replacement festival and examination and distribution of eye diseases to more than 600 workers.
Strengthening trust from practical work
In Ba Na commune, the union organizes a Singing Festival for workers, civil servants, and laborers, creating a cultural playground for union members after work. The vibrant singing and dancing performances with the theme "Connecting strength - Steadfastly taking the future" not only bring joy, but also strengthen solidarity, arouse the spirit of emulation of production labor.
In Duy Xuyen commune, the trade union coordinated to organize a Women's Football Tournament with the theme "Joining a heart for orphans and poor women". The tournament brings together 20 teams, both creating a vibrant sports atmosphere and raising funds to support disadvantaged students and poor women. This is a testament to creativity in the way of doing things: Sports activities are associated with humane and social goals.
Many other ward unions also have practical actions: Lien Chieu Ward Union visits and gives gifts to union members with serious illnesses; An Khe Ward Union organizes free general health check-ups for nearly 250 union members, each worth 740,000 VND... All of these activities show a new spirit and new determination since the commune and ward unions were officially established, contributing to strengthening the trust of workers in the Union organization.
In particular, the diversity of activities - from professional, technical, health, sports, culture to social security... clearly reflects the spirit of innovation, strongly towards the grassroots. This is an important premise for the Trade Union to grow stronger and stronger, accompanying the development of the city.
As Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh said: "The important thing is not large-scale or small-scale activities, but their practicality, closely linked to the needs of union members. We want commune and ward trade unions to be a solid support, a place where workers come when they need to share and protect their rights, and also a place to bring joy and community attachment".
The dynamism and efficiency in the activities of the trade unions of Da Nang communes and wards in the recent past has opened up great confidence: The trade union will continue to be a reliable support, a strong bridge between workers and organizations, between workers and enterprises.
