On the morning of May 12, the Vietnam Construction Trade Union organized a ceremony to respond to the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and Workers' Month 2026.
Attending the program were Mr. Bui Xuan Dung - Deputy Minister of Construction; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union and representatives of many agencies and units in the construction industry.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Hai - Director of the State Authority for Construction Quality Inspection (Ministry of Construction) - said that 2025 is an important milestone for the Construction and Transport sector when operating under a new organizational model, with expanded management scope.

However, the industry is also facing many difficulties when a series of key projects are being implemented with rapid progress, high construction intensity, while the weather is extremely extreme, directly affecting the working conditions of workers.
According to statistics, the construction sector continues to be the industry with the highest rate of labor accidents (LAs) in the country with 7,004 cases, causing 7,156 victims. Among them, there were 621 fatal labor accidents, causing 658 deaths and 1,779 seriously injured people. Localities recorded many fatal accidents concentrated in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh...

The main causes of accidents include traffic accidents, falls from heights, electric shocks and unsafe machinery and equipment... In which, errors from employers account for 28.5%; errors from workers account for 20%.
Mr. Hoang Hai said that although OSH work is increasingly concerned, there are still many shortcomings such as the lack of full-time personnel, officials in charge of OSH are mainly part-time, and have not been regularly trained. In addition, the funding for occupational safety at many enterprises is still low and does not meet practical requirements.

Speaking at the response ceremony, Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong said that the Construction industry is a field with a high risk of labor unsafety, so ensuring OSH is a particularly important task to protect the lives and health of workers.
According to Mr. Phuong, in the past time, the Vietnam Construction Trade Union has innovated OSH activities through dialogue, collective negotiation and promoting the role of the occupational safety and health network. In the coming time, the trade union will continue to promote the "Green - Clean - Beautiful" emulation movement, raising the awareness of proactively preventing labor accidents among union members and workers.
On behalf of the Ministry of Construction, Mr. Bui Xuan Dung launched the Action Month on OSH and Workers' Month 2026 with the theme: "Innovating management and improving the efficiency of occupational safety and health in the digital age".
According to the Deputy Minister of Construction, 2026 is identified as a pivotal year to shift from passive thinking to proactive prevention in occupational safety and health work. The Ministry of Construction will promote the application of technology in occupational safety management and supervision; require businesses and investors to allocate sufficient funds for occupational safety and health work and invest in early warning systems to control the risk of unsafety during construction.
At the launching ceremony, 9 units under the construction industry signed commitments to implement OSH work in the presence of delegates attending.
