Mr. Le Huy Vinh, Deputy Head of the Department of Labor - Salary - Social Insurance, Nghe An Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, said that the dialogue between the leaders and employees of Hoang Thi Loan Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company on paying severance pay did not come to results, and the two sides have not found a common voice.
Previously, on January 15, Hoang Thi Loan Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company issued a decision to terminate labor contracts with 114/387 workers due to difficult operations and surplus labor. The company announced that it will pay workers a monthly severance pay, from 1-3 million VND per month, until the allowance is exhausted. On February 14, the company paid the first installment, each person received 2 million VND.
Disagreeing with the above payment method, on the morning of February 17, nearly 100 workers gathered in front of the company gate to ask the leaders to resolve the matter. They recommended that the company pay one-time severance pay, in accordance with legal regulations and the collective labor agreement signed in 2023.
In response to the above incident, the Vinh City Labor Federation and relevant agencies came to grasp the situation and proposed organizing a dialogue between employers and employees.
At the dialogue on the afternoon of February 20, the representative of the workers continued to request the company to pay a one-time severance allowance so that they could stabilize their lives and find a new job. However, the company representative said that due to the difficult financial situation, it was not possible to pay more than 3.1 billion VND at one time to 114 employees, but would pay gradually every month. The company also proposed to accept workers who wanted to return to work, but the workers' representative did not accept.
Representatives of Nghe An authorities requested the company to arrange funds to pay severance pay in accordance with legal regulations. However, the company confirmed that it was facing difficulties so it could not arrange funds to pay in one go.
Paying severance pay in the form of " installment payment" not only affects the current life of workers but also causes difficulties in planning the future and finding new jobs. Workers hope that the authorities will soon intervene, ensure their legitimate rights, and help them overcome this difficult period.
Workers hope that, with the participation of authorities and cooperation from the company, the problem will soon be resolved appropriately, ensuring the rights of workers and stabilizing the labor situation in the locality.
