Owed wages after many months of unemployment
On September 3, Mr. Le Ngoc Hoang (born in 1992, residing in Tran Phu ward, Ha Tinh province) indignantly said that since March 2024, he has been working as a worker for Duc An Technical and Trading Joint Stock Company to construct the Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant. According to Mr. Hoang, Duc An Technical and Trading Joint Stock Company is headquartered at No. 71, Nguyen Hoang Ton Street, Xuan Dinh Ward, Hanoi City.
Mr. Hoang works as a manual labor worker, his salary is calculated based on working days at 450,000 VND/day. During the work process, the company is often late in paying salaries. As the Lunar New Year 2025 approaches, the company is late in paying salaries, so many workers have focused on demanding salary payments to have money to spend on Tet. After that, the company will pay a portion of the salary until November 2024.
Also on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the factory construction is basically completed, the work is gradually decreasing, so the construction site commander announced that anyone who needs to take a day off will take a day off. After that, many workers quit their jobs, but until now they have not been able to get all their wages.
"The company owes me wages for November 2024 and January 2025 with a total amount of about more than 20 million VND. Currently, about 40 others are also owed wages, some of whom are owed for 1 month, some of whom are owed for 2 months" - Mr. Hoang shared.
According to Mr. Hoang, many times the workers contacted the construction site commander, Mr. Hoang Chi Cuong, who, after many promises and breaks, recently called them often and did not pick up the phone.
Similarly, Mr. Truong Anh Tuan (residing in Vung Ang ward, Ha Tinh province) said that Duc An Technical and Trading Joint Stock Company owes him 1 month's salary in December 2024 for about 10 million VND, his father owes him half a month's salary for 4.5 million VND (Mr. Tuan's father has passed away).
According to Mr. Tuan, there are dozens of workers participating in the construction of Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant whose salaries are owed by Duc An Company. Many times, workers have contacted to demand wages but have not been able to do so. Many people were very upset but didn't know what to do.
Unable to contact the company representative
Reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper called the phone number of Mr. Hoang Chi Cuong - Commander of the Construction Site of Duc An Company that the workers provided but could not find the phone.
Talking to reporters, an officer in charge of construction of Machinery Assembly Joint Stock Company 10 (Lilama 10) - informed that Duc An Technical and Trading Joint Stock Company is a subcontractor of Lilama 10 Company constructing Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant in Vung Ang Economic Zone (Ha Tinh province).
This person said that between Lilama 10 Company and the subcontractor, Duc An Technical and Trading Joint Stock Company, there are regulations, they can make as much volume as Lilama 10 Company has signed to confirm according to the contract and has paid. As for Duc An Technical and Trading Joint Stock Company, how to pay the workers, he did not know, he will take the information back.
According to this person, Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant has completed the construction investment and has been put into operation, so Duc An Technical and Trading Joint Stock Company has withdrawn from the project; Lilama 10 Company has also basically withdrawn all, leaving only a few technical staff to complete the documents and papers.
On September 4, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper in Hanoi went to the address of 71 Nguyen Hoang Ton Street with the purpose of meeting with the company representative to record a response to the incident reported by workers. According to the reporter's observation, at 71 Nguyen Hoang Ton Street, it is divided into 2 parts, one for a motorbike repair shop being rented and one for residential and living areas (the area using loading doors). In front of house number 71, there is still a rather small signboard of Duc An Engineering and Trading Joint Stock Company, however, people confirmed that the company no longer rents at this address. According to a person living in the 71 house, the homeowner also confirmed that the company no longer rents this location. Call the phone number on the company's sign (024.... 411) and cannot be contacted. Bao Han
