Vinh Thong Company fails to promise to pay social insurance for more than 150 employees

Nam Dương |

Vinh Thong Trading and Service Production Co., Ltd., Tan Binh Industrial Park, Ho Chi Minh City (Vinh Thong Company) again failed to promise to pay social insurance for more than 150 employees.

The company has broken promises many times

Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper on July 9, Mr. Le Van Thuan, formerly a worker of Vinh Thong Company, angrily said that although the company has repeatedly promised employees, and the court has issued a judgment or decision recognizing the agreement between the parties, Vinh Thong Company has not yet paid social insurance for the workers.

I don't know when Vinh Thong Company will properly implement the court's decision so that we can fully enjoy our social insurance benefits" - Mr. Thuan said angrily.

Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Loan said that she was also late in paying social insurance by Vinh Thong Company. Therefore, when she gave birth in March 2025, she was not paid hospital fees because the company had not fully paid social insurance and health insurance and has not yet received maternity benefits as prescribed.

I gave birth to twins and because my children are still weak, I have to stay at home to take care of them. The whole family including husband and wife, 3 young children only relies on my husband's precarious income, while the family has to rent a house, life is extremely difficult. I hope the company will soon pay enough social insurance to enjoy maternity benefits according to regulations, to have money to take care of the children and take care of the family.

Although being sued in court, the company promised to pay social insurance for us by June 30 at the latest, but now the company continues to break its promise. Up to now, my child is 15 months old but I have not yet received maternity benefits. Although very upset, we also don't know what to do" - Ms. Loan said.

Delayed payment of nearly 17.12 billion VND in insurance

Not only Mr. Thuan and Ms. Loan, but more than 150 workers who had sued Vinh Thong Company in court to claim social insurance benefits also suffered the same situation.

As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, due to Vinh Thong Company owing salaries and late payment of social insurance for hundreds of workers of the company, then 137 workers of Vinh Thong Company authorized trade union officials under the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation to sue the enterprise, requesting payment of nearly 3.1 billion VND in salary and social insurance contributions with an amount of nearly 4.8 billion VND. Next, an additional 14 female workers in maternity also authorized trade union officials of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation to sue the company to demand maternity and social insurance benefits.

By April 2026, the company had paid off all outstanding salaries to employees. Regarding social insurance contributions, although Vinh Thong Company once promised to pay social insurance for all workers by February 28 and was recorded in court judgments and decisions, the company broke its promise. After that, the company again committed to pay enough by June 30 at the latest and then... broke its promise.

Mr. Duong Van Thuan - Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union Workers' Counseling and Support Center - who was authorized by many Vinh Thong Company workers to sue the company, also angrily said that although the deadline according to the court's decisions recognizing the company's agreement with workers has expired, Vinh Thong Company has not yet paid social insurance for the workers.

This is not the first time the company has broken its promise to workers, so it is very necessary for functional agencies to have measures to enforce judgments to ensure the rights of workers" - Mr. Thuan said angrily.

According to Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance, by the end of June 2026, Vinh Thong Company had delayed payment of social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance and occupational accident and disease insurance with a total amount of nearly 17.12 billion VND.
