The Ministry of Home Affairs officially submitted to the Government a plan for the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026 for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations and workers in the enterprise sector.
For cadres and civil servants, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposes to extend the Lunar New Year holiday in 2026 for 9 consecutive days, including 5 days off for Tet and 4 days off every week.
In which, civil servants will have 5 days off according to the provisions of the Labor Code, including 1 day before Tet and 4 days after Tet.
At the same time, this group is proposed to have a Lunar New Year holiday in 2026 from Saturday, February 14, 2026 (ie December 27, At Ty year) to Sunday, February 22, 2026 (ie January 6, Binh Ngo year).
In addition to the 5 days off according to the Labor Code, cadres and civil servants will have an additional 4 days off per week.
For employees, based on actual conditions and holiday schedules for civil servants, public employees, and employers, arrange a suitable Lunar New Year holiday schedule.
The Ministry of Home Affairs suggests that businesses can choose 1 day at the end of the year of the Snake and 4 days at the beginning of the year of the Snake or 2 days at the end of the year of the Snake and 3 days at the beginning of the year of the Snake or 3 days at the end of the year of the Snake and 2 days at the beginning of the year of the Snake.
Enterprises need to notify employees of the Tet holiday plan at least 30 days before implementation.
If the weekly day off coincides with the holiday or Tet holiday prescribed in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, the employer shall arrange compensatory weekly day off for employees on the next working day as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.
The Ministry of Home Affairs encourages employers to apply the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday to employees as a plan for civil servants and public employees, and also encourages more beneficial agreements for employees.
