In the context that the coal and mineral industry is facing the requirement of restructuring, digital transformation, improving productivity and retaining high-quality human resources, the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Trade Union clearly defines the direction of comprehensively innovating trade union activities in a professional and modern direction, putting workers at the center.

Not only continuing to affirm the role of representing, caring for and protecting the rights of union members, TKV Trade Union also sets a goal to build a new generation of mining workers, master modern technology, and accompany the sustainable development of Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (TKV).

Impressions of caring for workers in the past term

Mr. Le Thanh Xuan - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Chairman of TKV Trade Union said that in the period 2023-2025, TKV Trade Union marked a clear mark in performing the function of representing and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers by participating in building and implementing grassroots democracy regulations, organizing employee conferences, periodic dialogues and collective bargaining, the entire industry has signed collective labor agreements with 12 clauses that are more beneficial to workers than the provisions of law.

In 3 years, the entire industry organized 790 dialogues at the workplace with the participation of 66,868 workers, thereby resolving more than 7,000 opinions and recommendations from the grassroots level.

A highlight in the KTV Trade Union's activities is the maintenance of welfare policies imbued with the "Miner" identity.

The "Miner Tet" program continues to be organized annually, becoming a unique cultural beauty of the industry. In 2025, TKV agreed on an average Tet spending level of 10 million VND/person or more. The TKV Trade Union alone has supported more than 42.9 billion VND for about 9,500 workers in difficult circumstances in the past 3 years.

According to statistics, in the period 2023-2025, the entire industry has supported the construction and repair of 477 "Trade Union Shelter" houses; organized for more than 237,000 turns of workers to visit and vacation with a total budget of over 1,375 billion VND; more than 23,000 turns of workers were nursed and recovered their health.

Creative labor emulation movements also created clear effects when bringing in a profit of 1,355 billion VND from workers' initiatives and technical improvements.

Building a new trade union in a professional and modern direction

Based on the achieved results, in the 2025-2030 term, TKV Trade Union has identified the general objective as: "Innovating trade union activities in a professional direction, building effective new models for workers; promoting the application of digital transformation in operating fields and connecting union members; focusing resources on taking care of long-term welfare and income for workers; promoting the patriotic emulation movement of mine workers associated with technological innovation, improving labor productivity, contributing to realizing the aspiration for sustainable development of Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited". The action slogan throughout the term: "Innovate organization, Practical care, Connect union members".

A noteworthy point is that the TKV Trade Union selected 3 strategic breakthroughs. First, building a flexible grassroots trade union model, suitable for the digital transformation process in directing and organizing trade union activities. Second, promoting research and proposing mechanisms and policies to improve welfare for workers, associated with strengthening dialogue from the grassroots level to build harmonious labor relations. Third, participating in improving the quality of human resources, building a new generation of high-skilled mining workers, mastering modern technology.

According to Mr. Le Thanh Xuan, TKV Trade Union continues to identify the core task as representing and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and employees. The Trade Union will coordinate to build democratic regulations throughout the Group; maintain employee conferences at all levels; improve the quality of dialogue and collective bargaining; supervise the implementation of labor laws, collective labor agreements and the labor restructuring process.

Notably, the TKV Trade Union will actively participate in building policies related to employment, wages, housing, living conditions, travel and special regimes for workers working in heavy, hazardous, and dangerous environments.

Promoting digital transformation, building a new generation of mining workers

One of the notable highlights in the new term orientation is linking trade union activities with digital transformation and technological innovation. TKV Trade Union determines to strengthen the application of digital technology in grasping the thoughts and recommendations of employees; innovate trade union communication work; improve the operational efficiency of electronic information systems and union member connection channels.

Along with that is the promotion of emulation movements associated with mechanization, automation and digital transformation in production. The movements "Good labor, creative labor", "Creative miners", "Glory of miners", "Businesses for workers" continue to be identified as an important driving force to ignite the spirit of innovation in the team of technical workers and engineers in the coal industry.

In particular, building a new generation of mining workers with high professional qualifications, industrial style, labor discipline and the ability to master modern technology is considered a long-term strategic task.

Along with caring for workers, the TKV Trade Union also sets a goal to innovate the organization towards streamlining, effectiveness, and efficiency. The TKV Trade Union identifies the team of trade union officials as a decisive factor in the quality of operations. Therefore, the new term will focus on innovating training and fostering, building a team of trade union officials with bravery, enthusiasm, responsibility and prestige with workers.

Along with that is to enhance the role of trade union levels in participating in Party building, introducing outstanding union members for Party consideration and admission; contributing to building strong agencies and units.

With the consistent orientation of "Organizing innovation, Practical care, Connecting union members", TKV Trade Union is aiming to build a modern trade union model, adapting to the new development requirements of the Coal - Mineral industry, and at the same time continue to play the role of reliable support for tens of thousands of workers throughout the industry" - Mr. Le Thanh Xuan shared.
