Widespread democracy
According to statistics from the Dong Thap Provincial Labor Federation, the collection of opinions on the draft Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union (amended and supplemented) is being implemented synchronously throughout the province. As a result, 100% of directly superior grassroots trade unions (81/81 units) and 100% of grassroots trade unions (751/751 units) have organized the collection of opinions from union members, workers, and laborers.

186,554 out of a total of 200,168 union members directly participated in contributing opinions, reaching a rate of 93%. Trade union levels have flexibly applied many forms such as collecting written opinions, organizing thematic conferences or integrating them into trade union congresses at all levels. This not only shows that the opinion collection to amend and supplement the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union in Dong Thap has truly become a widespread political activity, but also demonstrates the high sense of responsibility of union members and workers towards the system of documents that are fundamental to the activities of the Vietnam Trade Union.
Through synthesis, most union members and trade union officials expressed high agreement with the new layout of the draft Charter consisting of 10 chapters, 47 articles, reducing 1 chapter and increasing 2 articles compared to the current Charter. The rearrangement of the structure is assessed as suitable for the new organizational model and compatible with the charters of other socio-political organizations.
Notably, all 186,554 participating opinions highly agreed with the new regulations related to union membership cards, union membership identification codes as well as contents on financial management and trade union assets.
Reducing the burden on grassroots officials
Besides the high consensus, many comments from grassroots levels also clearly reflect the difficulties in the practical activities of Trade Unions, especially in the non-state business sector.
Among them, there are 156.327 opinions proposing to consider rearranging Clause 2, Article 5 in the direction of clearly defining the priority order of tasks of grassroots trade unions.
According to reflections from many Trade Union officials, most Trade Union officials at non-state-owned enterprises operate concurrently, bearing great pressure on time and expertise, so it is difficult to fully perform all tasks as prescribed.

Therefore, many opinions suggested that tasks should be grouped by level of importance; core tasks should be prioritized to reduce the burden on grassroots Trade Union officials, helping Trade Union activities become deeper and more effective.
In addition, nearly 1,000 opinions also proposed adjusting the wording in Article 2 related to the rights and duties of union members. Accordingly, many union members proposed to replace the phrase "duty" with "responsibility" to ensure consistency with the Trade Union Law, while emphasizing the spirit of self-awareness and attachment of union members to the organization.
It can be said that the opinions contributed by union members and workers in Dong Thap not only reflect the thoughts and expectations of the grassroots level but are also an important source of practical materials contributing to the completion of the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union submitted to the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union.
