Confessions of expatriated workers
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien (39 years old, residing in Thach Xuan commune, Ha Tinh) after a few days of returning to her hometown for Tet returned to the garment company in Ho Chi Minh City to work. Her husband also just went to work abroad for 4 months, so 3 children who are of school age have to be taken care of by his paternal grandparents.
Ms. Hien said that she has been attached to a garment company in Ho Chi Minh City for nearly 15 years, with an income of more than 13 million VND/month, so she continues to work here instead of looking for work in her hometown.
I also want to go back to my hometown to work, but in Ha Tinh there are few large garment enterprises, afraid that orders will not be stable, so I haven't dared to go back," Ms. Hien shared.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan (born 1998, residing in Cam Lac commune, Ha Tinh), a demobilized soldier, just returned home for Tet after 3 years of working in Japan. At the end of March 2026, he will return to Japan with an income of about 25 million VND/month.
Although there is a company recruiting with a salary of nearly 20 million VND/month, Mr. Tuan said that he will continue to work in Japan for about 3 more years to accumulate capital before considering returning to his hometown.
Businesses link with universities and colleges for recruitment
Information from the Ha Tinh Employment Service Center, at the beginning of 2026, there are 101 businesses in the province with recruitment needs of nearly 8,300 workers. Of which, university degree workers need 316 people; intermediate and college level 1,472 people; general level workers 6,488 people.
Some businesses recruiting large numbers include: VinFast Production and Trading Joint Stock Company, Ha Tinh branch recruits 3,000 workers; Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Co., Ltd. recruits 800 workers; Fivestar Ha Tinh Garment Joint Stock Company in Son Kim 1 commune recruits 1,000 workers...
Mr. Nguyen Van Nam - Production Human Resources Director of VinFast Production and Trading Joint Stock Company, Ha Tinh branch - said that currently, the company is in need of recruiting 3,000 workers. According to the plan, from now until the end of 2026, the company needs to recruit an additional 10,000 workers. Accordingly, on average each month, the company will recruit from 700 - 1,000 workers.
If successful, in the worker position, there will be an attractive income of 12 to 18 million VND/person/month; for the positions of engineer, technician, team leader, specialist, the salary is negotiated when interviewing for recruitment.
According to Mr. Nam, due to the large demand, the company proactively recruits from many sources, including direct interviews at the company, in coordination with the Job Service Center and local authorities, and also links with a number of Universities and Colleges to recruit.
In general, each recruitment round will have about 70 - 85% of participants who will be recruited as workers," Mr. Nam shared and added that Vung Ang Economic Zone is still lacking housing for workers. The company has just arranged accommodation for nearly 1,000 people, and about 6,000 officials and workers have to hire cars to pick them up and drop them off every day from their homes to work. In the near future, the company will build housing for workers to ensure convenience for workers to live and work, and feel secure in sticking with the company for a long time.
Mr. Dang Viet Thuc - Director of Ha Tinh Garment Enterprise 10 (in Vung Ang Economic Zone) said that the Enterprise currently needs to recruit about 500 workers, but it is very difficult to recruit.
The reason, according to Mr. Thuc, is that in Vung Ang Economic Zone, there are many businesses in other fields that pay higher salaries, such as VinFast Electric Car Manufacturing Company, Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Co., Ltd....
According to a representative of the Ha Tinh Employment Service Center, except for a few businesses that have paid quite attractive wages, currently many other businesses in Ha Tinh, although they have increased their income and increased preferential treatment regimes, compared to businesses in some major cities, the income of workers in Ha Tinh is still lower.
Therefore, to attract labor and keep labor attached for a long time, businesses in Ha Tinh need to continue to increase income and ensure better welfare regimes.
