Vietnam Electricity Trade Union is one of the typical advanced collectives in emulation movements honored at the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress. In reality, emulation movements in the electricity industry are organized and implemented with the specific goal, the clearer the effectiveness, especially on key national projects.
Notably, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union launched the program 10,000 initiatives among union members and workers in EVN for the period 2025-2028. In 2025 alone, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union organized 109 creative seminars and forums, attracting 28,345 participants, recording 165 initiatives recognized and put into practice.
Mr. Do Duc Hung - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union - said that thanks to the creative and innovative spirit of union members and workers (DV, NLD), many projects have been completed on schedule and ahead of schedule, contributing to solving urgent requirements for power supply, stabilizing the system and improving national transmission capacity.
Or in Ho Chi Minh City, after the Trade Union organization launched an emulation movement, in the period of 2020 - 2025, there were over 150,000 initiatives and technical improvements of union members and employees with an estimated profit value of more than 5,200 billion VND. The rate of initiatives applied in practice reached over 70%, bringing efficiency in the first year of application, helping businesses save costs, increase productivity and improve competitiveness.
From a personal perspective, many delegates attending the congress are also the "creative core" in their workplace. That is engineer Chu Anh Tu of Toyota Boshoku Hai Phong Company Limited with more than 40 initiatives and improvements, bringing the company more than 50 billion VND in benefits. Many of Mr. Tu's initiatives are highly appreciated by leaders such as " Design a process to take advantage of leftover materials, reduce waste of leftover materials in the fiber-making stage" which benefits businesses with VND2.59 billion/year, reducing the amount of industrial waste released into the environment.
Innovation, creativity, and application of technology are the premises to create new successes. As one of the delegates of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor attending the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Newspaper Nguyen Ngoc Hien is a vivid testament to the spirit of innovation and creativity. Under the direction of Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Ngoc Hien, Lao Dong Newspaper has maintained its No. 1 position in protecting the legitimate and legal rights of workers and has been in first place for 3 consecutive years in the top of the Central Press agencies with the most outstanding digital transformation. In recent times, Lao Dong Newspaper has continued to be completely autonomous in technology, applying AI in automatic translations from Vietnamese to foreign languages (English, Korean, French, Japanese, Spanish) in electronic newspapers and the Vietnam Trade Union Electronic Information Portal; deploying the operation of the level 3 information security model for the newspaper's information technology system.
Honoring people who are directly involved in production
The 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress is a particularly important political and social event of national significance, held periodically to summarize and comprehensively evaluate patriotic emulation movements and reward work in the period of 2021-2025; at the same time, determine the direction and tasks to continue promoting the patriotic emulation movement in the period of 2026-2030.
According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, the congress is not only an opportunity to summarize the lively practical activities of patriotic emulation movements in recent years, but also has the meaning of strategic orientation, creating new momentum and new motivation for the patriotic emulation movement in the coming time.
This is also an opportunity to honor and commend outstanding collectives and individuals; heroes, emulation fighters, and advanced models - those who represent the intelligence, bravery, dedication, and creativity of the Vietnamese people in the new era.
Notably, the total number of delegates attending the 11th National Emulation Congress is 2,223, including 198 invited delegates and 2,025 official delegates, including 1,326 typical and outstanding advanced delegates in patriotic emulation movements, mainly those who directly work in production in the fields of economy, culture, society, national defense and security of ministries, departments, branches, central organizations, provinces and cities, accounting for 65.5%.
This figure further shows that the patriotic emulation movement among workers has been strongly launched in recent years, with the timely direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. The emulation program was designed methodically, closely combined with economic and social goals and policies of the Party and State, attracting a large number of union members and workers to participate. Emulation movements such as "Good workers", "Creative workers", "Green - Clean - Beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and hygiene" have truly become a driving force to promote labor productivity and creativity at work.
One of the outstanding marks of the patriotic emulation movement in the period of 2021-2025 are initiatives such as "75 thousand initiatives, overcoming difficulties, developing" and "1 million initiatives - efforts to overcome difficulties, creativity, determination to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic". These programs have aroused strong creativity among workers, civil servants and laborers, with more than 2 million initiatives launched, helping businesses overcome difficulties, maintain production, develop and improve labor productivity.
The initiatives not only help businesses maintain development but also improve competitiveness, improve working conditions and limit occupational accidents. The total value of benefits from the initiatives is estimated at more than VND33,000 billion, reflecting an outstanding effort of Vietnamese workers in contributing to the development of the national economy.
The patriotic emulation movement among the working class cannot be without the role of trade unions in promoting innovation. The 2025 "National Creative Labor Festival" program is a vivid testament to this innovation. The program not only honors the outstanding achievements of workers but also creates a space for exchanging experiences and proposing solutions and creative ideas in production.
The "Promoting the creativity of workers" forum has become an important forum to connect initiatives, contributing to maximizing the creativity of workers in the context of integration and digital transformation. These are the continuous efforts of the Vietnam Trade Union to create a creative working environment, promoting labor productivity in Industry 4.0.
Emulation movements not only bring positive results to the economy but also contribute to improving the lives of workers, arousing creative potential, and enhancing the role and position of Vietnam Trade Union in society. The Vietnamese working class continues to affirm its pioneering role in the patriotic emulation movement, contributing to building a strong, civilized and prosperous country.
