A miracle from a special movement
4 years ago, in September 2021, in the context of the country being heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the lives and jobs of millions of workers, civil servants and laborers were seriously affected, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor launched the program "1 million initiatives, efforts, overcoming difficulties, creativity, determined to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic". The program is successfully evaluated in all 3 aspects: Launching, organizing implementation; results and spillover effects.
After only 10 months of implementation, the program has reached 1 million initiatives - 332 days ahead of schedule. By the time of the summary, the number of initiatives had exceeded 2.4 million, of which more than 2 million were valid, reaching 203% of the target, with a total estimated benefit value of more than VND 33,000 billion. Many initiatives are worth hundreds of billions of VND, coming from all industries and occupations, from direct production workers to engineers, technical staff, office staff.
This success does not come from a few individuals, but is the result of a well-organized emulation movement, spreading widely. Trade unions at all levels have created many forms of mobilization, linking the movement with the professional tasks of each industry and each unit. Not only employees, many businesses and employers also accompany, encourage, and reward in a timely manner, creating a favorable environment for initiatives to be born and applied.
Speaking at the program's summary ceremony in October 2023, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: "The Party and State always pay attention to, recognize, and affirm the role and importance of Vietnam Trade Union, union members and workers nationwide. The development and growth of the working class and the Trade Union organization is an important factor for the development of the country.
The Prime Minister also suggested that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor focus on solutions to promote the role and responsibility of the Vietnam Trade Union to continue to fulfill the mission of the working class in the development process of the country.
foundation for new breakthroughs
The success of the Program "1 million initiatives, efforts, overcoming difficulties, creativity, determination to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic" leaves many valuable lessons. That affirms the creativity of Vietnamese workers and laborers is huge, a wide network of creative factors in industries and types of enterprises. This could create deeper movements among workers.
This is the foundation for the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to develop the Creative Labor movement at a new level, closely linked to the requirements of Resolution 57-NQ/TW.
Resolution 57 identifies science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as strategic breakthroughs for Vietnam to develop rapidly and sustainably. Notably, Resolution 57-NQ/TW emphasizes the application of technology and digital transformation in production and management practices. This is an opportunity for the Creative Labor movement to expand its scope, from traditional technical improvements to digital technology solutions, artificial intelligence, big data, automation, etc.
The Trade Union organization, through the Creative Labor movement, can become a channel for direct implementation of the resolution at the grassroots level, from orienting initiatives to digitize production processes, applying green technology, to improving equipment to improve labor safety.
The 2025 Creative Labor Festival at the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is not only an opportunity to honor outstanding initiatives, but also creates special spaces and forums to spread the spirit of innovation and creativity among workers, civil servants and laborers nationwide. In particular, the Exhibition "Creative Journey - Aspiration to Rise Up", the Forum "Promoting the Creative Potential of Workers" and the "Enterprise for Workers 2025" Award Ceremony are two highlights with profound value.
The above events are not only a source of lively inspiration, helping everyone believe that anyone, in any position, can contribute valuable initiatives to the community and the country, but also an opportunity to concretize the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW into the creative labor movement, ensuring that this activity becomes an important component of the breakthrough strategy in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in the future.
Also within the framework of the 2025 Creative Labor Festival at the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the "Outstanding Enterprise for Workers" Award - Award chaired by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), was assigned to Lao Dong Newspaper for direct implementation.
The "Outstanding Enterprise for Workers" Award is an important event to recognize and honor businesses that have made outstanding contributions to caring for, protecting the rights and improving the lives of workers. In particular, this year, the award also focuses on honoring businesses with innovation, application of advanced technologies and new business models to improve labor productivity and work quality.
Award-winning enterprises not only focus on profits but also pay special attention to sustainable development, building a friendly and dynamic working environment for employees. They have applied creative solutions, from investing in technology, improving production processes to building preferential policies, vocational training and comprehensive development for the workforce.
