On March 11, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Ha - Member of the Presidium, Head of the Department of Legal Policy - Labor Relations of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - said that from March 1, 2025 to March 7, 2025, in Thanh Hoa province, there were 10 collective work stoppages and 2 companies showed signs of work stoppages; on the morning of March 7, 2025, there were work stoppages at Amara Vietnam Shoes Company Limited in Nam Dinh.
As soon as disputes arose and collective work of workers was stopped, trade unions at all levels proactively and promptly approached and grasped the thoughts and aspirations of workers. Accordingly, workers proposed to increase the minimum wage to the region; increase bonuses for being attached to businesses; increase shift meals, gasoline, raising young children, diligence...
Along with that, the Labor Federations of the provinces have directed the trade unions at the grassroots level, grassroots trade unions at the grassroots level, in addition to grasping the situation of workers, promptly proposing to business leaders to resolve workers' recommendations; sending staff to participate in working groups chaired by the police to work with localities and enterprises; trade unions at all levels have increased grasp of the situation of workers and propagated against participation in work stoppages, disrupting security and order inside and outside enterprises...
According to Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Ha, through the process of dialogue and negotiation between employers and the collective of employees with the support, guidance and witnessing of trade unions at all levels and functional agencies, most of the requirements of employees have been resolved by the employer in whole or in part, after which the collective of employees have returned to normal work, and the rights of employees are guaranteed.
Proactively dialogue with businesses about salaries and bonuses for employees
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor's Legal Policy - Labor Relations Department stated that due to the shortage of labor in some provinces and cities; especially the textile and footwear industries with many limitations for workers, low-income workers... in the coming time, there is a potential risk of workers quitting work collectively in large enterprises, especially in enterprises with foreign direct investment (FDI) to propose salary increases and other welfare regimes due to other enterprises in the area quitting work and being met after quitting work...
Therefore, in the coming time, leaders of provinces and cities need to direct authorities and police at all levels to strengthen their grasp and have solutions to prevent work stoppages, and work with research corporations interested in the lives of employees; agencies, departments and branches with the function of strengthening inspection and supervision of the implementation of policies and regulations of the law for employees; recommending that businesses pay attention to policies for employees, especially when employees have appropriate recommendations to avoid the situation when employees quit their jobs and only resolve them.
Along with that, the Labor Federations of provinces and cities directly work with large enterprises and direct direct the trade unions at the direct superior level, the grassroots trade unions to work, dialogue, and negotiate with enterprises to adjust wages and policies for employees to ensure that they are suitable for the actual situation, avoiding employees stopping work spontaneously to demand their rights.
For provinces and cities such as Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Nghe An, Hung Yen... urgently grasp the situation of enterprises and workers' concerns about the current policies and regimes for workers in the province and city. Strengthen the direction of trade unions at all levels, especially grassroots trade unions, to synthesize the wishes of employees for dialogue, negotiation, and signing of collective labor agreements in accordance with enterprises.
Directly or assign superior union officials to work directly, grasp the situation at large enterprises in the area and take measures to participate in preventing labor disputes and collective work stoppages.
Strengthen coordination with functional agencies and police agencies to deploy measures to prevent labor disputes, especially grasping, classifying subjects and strictly handling bad, agitating subjects, luring workers to stop working...
