Concerns of workers
Having held a business management position at a company, Mr. Bui Duy Trinh (Cau Giay ward) could not hide his passion when he arrived at the Hanoi Employment Service Center in early July. After quitting his job, he came here to apply for unemployment benefits and at the same time took the opportunity to find a new job. With extensive experience, he hopes to find an equivalent position in the field of management and business to promote his strengths.
However, the journey to find a job for Mr. Trinh as well as many workers over the age of 35 was not easy. He said that the biggest obstacle is age.
All companies are recruiting workers under the age of 35. For people over 35 years old like me, it is very difficult. If you have experience, you must be a sewing major to be recruited, said Mr. Trinh.
Mr. Trinh's concern is also the common sentiment of many workers in the transition period. At the job fairs of the Hanoi Employment Service Center (No. 215 Trung Kinh), hundreds of workers of different ages were present early. Some have completed their application for benefits, while others are patiently waiting for their turn to interview employers directly.
The atmosphere shows that the labor market is still vibrant, but competition and strict requirements from businesses are creating a lot of pressure, especially for those who no longer have the advantage of youth.

Enterprises proactively expand their age, find suitable candidates
In contrast to the concerns of middle-aged workers, many businesses participating in the trading session showed openness in recruitment policies. The units not only bring many diverse positions in different industries but also proactively expand the age of receiving candidates.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoi - personnel specialist of Sigma Inspection and Investment Company - said that the unit is in great demand for recruitment for both groups: engineers and technical workers.
"The position of supervising engineer, design engineer... has a salary of 25 million VND/month or more. For technical workers and installers, newly graduated candidates have the lowest salary of 12 million VND/month, while those with 1-2 years of experience can earn 15 - 16 million VND/month" - Mr. Hoi informed.
In particular, in the restaurant service sector, the age barrier has almost been eliminated. Ms. Nguyen Khanh Vy - a recruitment specialist at Golden Gate Group Joint Stock Company - affirmed: "Our restaurant model will not limit age. As long as the candidates are 18 years old or older until they can be 50 - 60 years old, if they are suitable for positions from waiter, kitchen assistant to warehouse keeper, security guard, we are ready to accept them all".
This flexibility shows that businesses are becoming more and more practical in finding human resources, prioritizing experience and suitability instead of focusing only on age. Job fairs like this are not only an effective bridge, helping businesses access diverse labor sources but also opening up opportunities for workers to soon stabilize their work and life.
