Dream home
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly is a nutritionist at Trieu An Kindergarten (Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province) in a very difficult situation when her husband died early, she alone had to take care of raising her two sons. With a salary of less than 8 million VND/month, she had to calculate carefully to avoid running short in life. Therefore, she did not dare to dream of a solid house to protect her parents and children.
Knowing Ms. Ly's difficult circumstances, the agency where she works, especially the Trade Union, always cares about and shares with her.
A few months ago, the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor decided to support Ms. Ly with funds to build a house at the Trade Union Shelter. Ms. Ly knew that if she had not taken advantage of this support, it was not clear when she would have had the opportunity to build a house, so she boldly borrowed from the bank and asked for the help of her family to build a solid level 4 house with an area of over 100 square meters. The house not only provides a place to shelter from the rain and sun, but also brings stability to her family and motivates her to continue to strive in work and life.
"Now, my children have a stable place to live, I can work and teach them with peace of mind. I am truly grateful for the attention of trade unions at all levels that have helped my family overcome this difficulty" - Ms. Ly emotionally shared.
Similar to Ms. Ly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Khanh Ly, a worker at Kim Tin Joint Stock Company under the Trade Union of Industry and Trade of Quang Tri province, also has difficult circumstances, when her husband does not have a stable job and her income is only 4.5 million VND/month. They also take care of their elderly parents and paralyzed brother.
When receiving information that the "Union Shelter" program would support money to build a house, Ms. Ly also calculated in advance, then decided to build a level 4 house with an area of 80m2.
Continuing happiness for employees
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - Vice President of the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor - said that the program to build houses for the Trade Union Shelter has profound humanitarian significance, in line with the policies of the Party and State on eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.
The program has been actively and synchronously implemented by trade unions at all levels, especially with the consensus and support of cadres, union members, workers and civil servants and the whole society. The Trade Union Shelter Housing Support Program supports each case with 40 to 50 million VND. This amount of money is not enough to build a spacious house, but in reality, the houses are built very beautifully and securely thanks to the support of family and colleagues.
In 2024 alone, the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor supported the construction of 27 houses for workers in difficult circumstances.
In the coming time, the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to review and have a plan to support funding for building houses for union members and workers who are qualified. At the same time, it hopes to continue to receive the coordination of Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Front and socio-political organizations, businesses, and philanthropists to help union members and workers with housing difficulties soon settle down and work with peace of mind.
