Workers expect a lot from pressing issues
According to Mr. Le Trong Nguyen - Chairman of Lien Chieu Ward Trade Union, Da Nang City, the special point of the exchange and discussion of Prime Minister Le Minh Hung with delegates attending the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress is that the opinions and recommendations all originate from issues very close to the lives of workers and laborers.
From the story of living wages, social housing, vocational training, health care to improving labor productivity are all contents that have attracted the attention of a large number of union members in recent times.
Through following the exchange and discussion, I realize that many opinions have reflected the true thoughts of workers today. Among them, the most concerned issue is still salary, social housing and social security and insurance policies. These are contents that directly affect the quality of life of workers and their families," Mr. Nguyen shared.
According to Mr. Nguyen, although the lives of workers have improved in recent years, in reality, there are still many workers and laborers facing difficulties. Income increases, but living expenses, rent, children's education, and medical expenses also increase accordingly.
The Government's continued affirmation of its determination to promote the development of social housing is a very positive sign. Workers not only want to have houses to live in but also want to live in houses with synchronous infrastructure, schools, kindergartens, medical facilities and cultural institutions serving life.
Waiting for effective policy implementation
Mr. Le Trong Nguyen said that the greatest value of the exchange and discussion of Prime Minister Le Minh Hung with delegates attending the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress is the commitments and orientations that the Government has put forward to solve the problems raised from practice.
Workers are very excited when their voices are heard directly at an important forum. However, what they expect most is that the policies and commitments will be implemented synchronously and effectively in the coming time.
According to him, regarding the issue of salaries, workers want to continue to have solutions to improve real income, gradually moving towards a living wage level. In parallel with that are price control policies, developing social welfare systems to reduce spending pressure for workers.
In the field of social housing, Mr. Nguyen expects projects to be accelerated, expand the target audience and have more appropriate support mechanisms so that workers have the opportunity to rent, lease-purchase or own houses at reasonable costs.
Regarding social insurance policy, what workers are concerned about is that their rights are increasingly better guaranteed, procedures are more convenient, and coverage is increasingly wide.
According to Mr. Nguyen, in the context of the country aiming for double-digit growth, better care for workers is also investing in sustainable development.
A worker with a stable income, suitable housing, guaranteed social insurance benefits and adequate health care will be assured to stick with the business, actively study to improve their skills and contribute more to the development of the unit as well as the country.
He also expects that after the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, the coordination between the Government, ministries, branches, localities and trade union organizations will become increasingly closer so that the contents that have been discussed and committed to at the forum will soon be realized.
Workers always believe in the concern of the Party, State and Government. We hope that the commitments made at the dialogue will soon become specific policies, specific projects and specific results so that workers can feel in their daily lives," Mr. Le Trong Nguyen expressed.
