300 outstanding union officials and workers participated in the program "City leaders meet outstanding union members and workers" organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation on February 18.
Vice President of the General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc attended the program.
In his opening speech, Mr. Vo Khac Thai - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - said that entering a new era, an era of national growth, opens up many opportunities and challenges.
The Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union will continue to effectively implement the targets of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress for the 2020 - 2025 term, the Trade Union Congresses at all levels for the 2023 - 2028 term, in conjunction with streamlining the apparatus and improving operational efficiency.
Strengthen patriotic emulation movements towards celebrating important events such as: 50 years of liberation of the South, national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) 135 years of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1990 - May 19, 2025) and Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress...
At the meeting, many union officials and workers expressed their hope that the leaders of the Party, State, Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam Trade Union organization would pay attention to training union officials in terms of political qualifications and professional qualifications in trade unions to meet the requirements in the new situation.
The State needs to build more social housing for workers to buy and rent to feel secure in long-term attachment to Ho Chi Minh City; reduce troublesome administrative procedures, have support policies for businesses to improve competitiveness to ensure jobs for workers; increase loan support for union members and workers with low incomes to avoid bad credit among workers.
Mr. Cu Phat Nghiep - Chairman of the Trade Union of PouYuen Vietnam Company - said that currently the rate of workers in the company having to rent houses to rent houses is very high, many people have had to quit their jobs and return to their hometowns because they cannot buy a house, the cost of buying and renting a house is high, and the couple and children cannot live together. Therefore, Mr. Nghiep suggested that the State and the Vietnam Trade Union soon implement the construction of social housing for workers to buy and rent.
"Only with a social housing policy and selling at prices suitable for workers' income will certainly workers outside the province recalculate. When they have a house and settle down, workers will focus on working and staying long-term to stabilize their lives...", Mr. Nghiep said.
Speaking at the program, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh highly appreciated the activities of trade unions at all levels in Ho Chi Minh City in performing the functions and tasks of trade unions, especially the care of Tet for union members and workers, thereby receiving high appreciation from the leaders of the Party, State, consensus from businesses and society. In which, there is an important role for party members who are union officials and outstanding workers.
Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh also suggested that Party members who are exemplary union officials and workers continue to promote their roles to contribute to the good implementation of the development of enterprises, the socio-economy of Ho Chi Minh City and the country.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc highly appreciated the contributions of the trade union organization, workers and laborers of Ho Chi Minh City to the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City and the country in recent years.
"The development of Ho Chi Minh City in recent years has had great contributions from the city's trade unions, workers and laborers," Mr. Loc emphasized.
