Ms. Pham Thu Minh (36 years old), living in Cau Giay district, Hanoi, said that she has just returned to work after maternity leave. However, she did not choose her old company but accepted to find a new suitable workplace even though she knew it was difficult to apply at this time.
"Although I have sent my resume to several places, I still haven't found the job I want," said Ms. Minh.
According to Ms. Minh, at the end of the year, businesses often limit recruiting new employees to save costs. Places that really need people have very high requirements to start working right away, beyond her ability.
The female employee said that the amount of the Tet bonus is not as important to her as having a long-term job. Ms. Minh has a small child, so it is even more difficult to score points with the employer because the company is worried that it will affect her work.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Thang (30 years old) - living in Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi also encountered a similar situation after deciding to quit his job due to internal conflicts.
“At this time, job search websites do not have as many attractive options as at the beginning of the year. On social networking groups, there are more scam jobs than reputable recruitment posts,” said Mr. Thang.
Even when he went to the job center, Mr. Thang still could not find a satisfactory job with the desired salary. He had to accept driving a motorbike taxi and delivering goods to make ends meet while waiting to find a job.
Not only office workers, manual laborers and freelancers also have headaches finding jobs at the end of the year.
Returning to his hometown after nearly a year of installing air conditioning in Hanoi, Mr. Tran Van Thang said he wanted to find a stable job in his hometown to work long-term.
"Every day, I visit the fanpages of companies near my home and nearby to see the vacancies. If I see a job that I can do, I text or call to ask for details even though I have no experience. However, up to now, I have not received a response," said Mr. Thang.
According to Mr. Thang, in his hometown, only direct production workers are recruited regularly regardless of the time of year. As for other positions such as electromechanical and experienced materials, the company only recruits when there is a shortage.
Therefore, Mr. Thang plans to apply to work as a worker at the company first to have money to take care of his family and prepare for Tet. When the company recruits positions that he likes, he will apply to transfer to work more effectively.
Ms. Le Thi Vinh (33 years old) - living in Ha Dong district shared that she and her husband specialize in marketing support for individuals and businesses. The last two months of the year are the most difficult time because companies often cut outsourcing costs to the maximum.
“Since the beginning of November, we have not received any new jobs. Meanwhile, we still have to pay for daily living expenses, mortgage payments, and children’s education, so I have to change and find a stable job,” said Vinh.
Vinh’s immediate goal is still to try to find more customers who want to do marketing. In addition to finding customers online, Vinh and her husband have to go out to each business and store to convince them.
In addition to finding new clients, Ms. Vinh will also try to apply for a job at a company. Although she knows it is difficult at this time, Ms. Vinh believes that there are still places that need to recruit, and she is willing to lower her standards in terms of salary and environment to find a job.
