Caring for and protecting the rights of workers
On April 27, at Tra Da Industrial Park (Pleiku city), the Gia Lai Provincial Labor Federation held a launching ceremony for the Workers' Month movement in 2025.
The program was attended by Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Mr. Nguyen Huu Que - Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phong - Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial Labor Federation; and representatives of leaders of departments, branches, sectors and thousands of workers and laborers in the province.
At the ceremony, the Provincial Federation of Labor awarded funding to support the construction and repair of 25 "Union Shelters" (including 20 newly built houses and 5 repaired houses) to union members and workers in difficult circumstances, with serious illnesses or having work-related accidents.
At the launching ceremony, the Trade Union of Cho Ray Hospital and Dai Duong Joint Venture Company - Saigon Real Estate Corporation Limited presented funding to support the construction of 3 " caring houses" for union members and workers in difficult circumstances.
On this occasion, the trade union organization presented support gifts to 185 union members and workers. Doctors from Cho Ray Hospital and Hung Vuong Gia Lai Hospital organized free breast cancer examination and screening for 200 female union members and provided health care consultations for many other union members and workers.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan - a worker at a stone processing company in the industrial park - emotionally shared that her daily work is busy, her income is just enough to cover her living expenses, so I have few conditions to go to the doctor.
"Today, during Workers' Month, after being wholeheartedly examined and consulted by doctors, I feel more secure about my health. Hopefully there will be more meaningful programs like this" - Ms. Lan emotionally said.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - said that on February 24, 2012, the Central Party Secretariat agreed to the policy of taking May every year as Workers' Month.
Since then, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has directed trade unions at all levels nationwide to organize Workers' Month, in order to care for and protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers, civil servants and laborers.
Spreading the spirit of Workers' Month
Activities in response to Workers' Month launched and organized by the Gia Lai Provincial Labor Federation have created a widespread spread, positively affecting society.
In particular, there are specific and practical activities such as visiting union members and workers in especially difficult circumstances, having work accidents, etc.
Workers' Month is also an occasion to commend and reward outstanding and exemplary workers in emulation and learning movements; developing union members, establishing grassroots unions; organizing the "Union Meal" program...
According to Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh, the Workers' Month program has contributed to building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations in enterprises.
The program also promotes the pioneering role and creativity of workers, civil servants and laborers in implementing socio-economic development tasks and defending the Fatherland.
Workers' Month has gradually become a highlight that the Party Committee, government, society and businesses are interested in implementing to care for, protect and promote the role of workers and laborers.
At the launching ceremony, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh highly appreciated and commended the trade unions at all levels of Gia Lai province for their efforts and creativity in implementing well the activities in response to Workers' Month 2025.
During the Workers' Month 2025, the Gia Lai Provincial Trade Union visited, encouraged and provided support to workers working at key projects in the province.
The projects include: Smart Grid project (smart electricity) at Pleiku 500kV transformer station; National Highway 19 bypass project and the Eastern Economic Corridor project through Pleiku city.
