Leaving my hometown to find a job
Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong (from Nghe An) said that his family used to be farmers, but for the past few years, the income from the fields has not been much.
"The children are getting older, studying is expensive, if they stay in the countryside, with such an income, they cannot raise them. Therefore, I went to Hanoi to work as a sub-looker at housing construction projects. Weekly salary work. For me, going far from home is the only way to improve my family's economy," said Mr. Cuong.
Mr. Cuong shared: The main work of the reservoir is transporting materials, carrying bricks, mixing the reservoir, and clearing the works. The job does not require high skills but requires health and flexibility".
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong (from Nam Dinh) said: "Every day I climb scaffolding, carrying goods, dust flying everywhere, and sweat. There are days when the sun is like a fire, my legs are burning but I still have to work, because if I quit, I won't have money".
Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong also shared that the income of a construction worker ranges from 250,000 - 350,000 VND/day, depending on the project. If you work regularly, you can earn an income of 7 - 9 million VND per month. However, few people are like that, because when the job is not at work, there is a risk of work accidents.
"The lake's help girl often feels excited and slips and falls. Some people were unfortunately hit by heavy objects. This job is eating dusty rice, living temporarily at the construction site but still have to stay because there is no other choice, said Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong.
Ham contributes every penny to take care of his family
In the resounding sound of concrete mixers, in the middle of the dusty construction site, the image of the workers working hard is a vivid testament to the persistent labor of farmers far from home. They chose to leave their roofs and fields to find a way to live in the city. Behind that drop of sweat, those rough hands are love for family, the hope for a less difficult future for children.

Mr. Vu Van Thai (from Nghe An province) shared that after deducting food expenses, he tries to send home about 5 - 6 million VND per month. "In the countryside, that amount of money can be used to support the whole family and pay for their children's tuition. Sometimes I don't dare to spend it for myself, just want to stay healthy and do it," Mr. Thai confided.
Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong confided: " making a living in a foreign land is not easy, but for us, every day of work, every penny of salary earned is worth it. We just hope to stay healthy and work a few more years to have capital to return to our hometown. Although working as a construction worker is a pity, it is the only way to take care of the family. I feel sweat and wish to make it a brighter tomorrow for my children".
