At 0:05 on August 18, at km 593+290 on National Highway 1 passing through Phu Trach Commune, Quang Tri Province, a traffic accident occurred between a passenger car with license plate 38B - 015.xx driven by Mr. Nguyen Quoc V (residing in Can Loc Commune, Ha Tinh Province) traveling in the North - South direction and a car with license plate 73A 228.xx driven by Mr. Tran Thanh M (born in 1977, residing in Ba Don Ward, Quang Tri Province) traveling in the opposite direction.
As a result, Mr. Tran Thanh M and his companion (identity unknown) died on the spot, and the two cars were severely damaged.
The accident caused traffic congestion in the right lane of the Deo Ngang tunnel.
Immediately after the traffic accident occurred, the traffic police force coordinated with the road management unit and local authorities to direct traffic and investigate the cause.
After efforts to clear the scene, by about 5:50 a.m. on August 18, traffic in the Deo Ngang tunnel was smooth.
