The mission of the working class with the aspiration to rise up of the nation

Nguyên Ngọc |

Throughout the history of the revolution, the working class has always played a pioneering role. Entering the new era, the Vietnamese working class continues to affirm its key position in socio-economic development, while at the same time needing to comprehensively promote its potential to rise up with the nation to build a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

The historical role of the Vietnamese working class

Since its inception, the Vietnamese working class has carried a great historical mission. From the workers' movement in the early 20th century to the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1930s, the working class has demonstrated their pioneering spirit, class enlightenment and profound revolutionary spirit. Under the leadership of the Party, workers and the entire nation have made great victories: the August Revolution of 1945, the resistance war against French colonialism and American imperialism, the struggle to unify the country and build socialism.

In the renovation process from 1986 to present, workers continue to be the core force in the cause of industrialization and modernization, contributing to creating fundamental changes in the economic structure, improving labor productivity, and promoting international integration. The emergence of industrial parks, export processing zones, and modern factories across the country is a vivid testament to the continuous growth of the working class.

The great potential of the Vietnamese working class

The Vietnamese working class always possesses great potential, which can become an important driving force in the era of national growth.

Firstly, Resolution 20 NQ/TW (term X) on continuing to build the Vietnamese working class in the period of accelerating industrialization and modernization of the country; along with many policies on wages, insurance, housing, social welfare... are favorable conditions for workers to promote their role and position.

Second, the force is large and widely distributed. Currently, workers account for a large proportion of the social labor structure, concentrated in key industries, present in almost all localities, becoming the main productive force of the economy.

Third, the ability to absorb science and technology. The young workforce with increasingly high education and professional skills can easily adapt to new technology, thereby improving labor productivity and national competitiveness.

Fourth, revolutionary tradition and patriotism. Vietnamese workers are always loyal to the goal of national independence and socialism, have the will to rise up, and are ready to sacrifice personal interests for the common interests of the collective and the Fatherland.

Challenges in the new era

In addition to the huge contributions, the Vietnamese working class is also facing many unprecedented new challenges, including:

First, the change of science and technology. The Fourth Industrial Revolution with artificial intelligence, big data, automation... is putting workers at risk of losing their jobs and falling behind in skills if they are not promptly retrained and improve their skills.

Second, the requirements of international integration. As Vietnam widely participates in new-generation free trade agreements, workers must adapt to international labor standards, from productivity, discipline to soft skills and foreign language skills.

Third, material and spiritual life. Although workers' lives have improved, there are still many difficulties in terms of income, housing, living conditions, health care, and education for children. This affects their wholehearted and enthusiastic attachment to work and the common cause.

Fourth, the issue of political awareness and understanding. A part of workers, especially the younger generation, have not paid due attention to studying theory and improving political courage; are easily affected by the negative side of the market mechanism and the flow of bad and toxic information in cyberspace.

The nation's aspiration to rise up and the workers' mission

Our country is entering a new stage of development with the goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030; and becoming a developed country with high income by 2045. To realize that aspiration, the working class plays a key role.

They are not only the ones directly creating material wealth, but also the leading force in digital transformation, applying new technology, participating in building a knowledge economy. Vietnamese workers are the "pillars" for the country to make a breakthrough, shortening the development gap with advanced countries.

Every worker today needs to nurture the desire to rise up, be aware of their historical role, constantly study, create, and practice to become a global citizen while still maintaining the full courage and spirit of Vietnam.

Solutions to promote the potential of the working class

Despite many challenges, in order for the working class to truly become the core force, leading the nation to rise up in the new era, it is necessary to synchronously deploy many solutions.

First, it is necessary to improve qualifications and professional skills. Workers must be continuously trained and fostered to master modern technology. The State needs to invest heavily in the vocational education system, linking training with the practical needs of businesses. Enterprises need to coordinate with training institutions, build lifelong learning programs for workers, and encourage them to improve their skills themselves.

Second, it is necessary to take care of and ensure the material and spiritual life of workers. Workers' potential can only be promoted when they have a stable life. Therefore, it is necessary to continue to improve wages, insurance regimes, health care, and build many social housing areas, kindergartens, and schools for workers' children. At the same time, it is necessary to expand cultural and sports institutions to improve spiritual life, helping workers stay with businesses and the country for a long time.

Third, foster political courage, build a modern working class. It is necessary to promote political and ideological education, raising awareness of the historical mission of the working class. Youth Union, Trade Union and socio-political organizations in enterprises need to organize many political activities, foster revolutionary ideals, and strengthen confidence in the path of socialism.

Fourth, we must develop a strong Trade Union organization. The trade union is a reliable support for workers. It is necessary to build a truly close trade union organization, protect the legitimate rights of workers, and at the same time arouse a spirit of creativity and responsibility in labor. Trade unions must also become a bridge between workers and the Party, the State and enterprises.

Fifth, increase incentives for initiatives and technical improvements. It is necessary to create a favorable environment for workers to promote initiatives, improve techniques, participate in research activities, and apply science and technology. The State and businesses need to have a mechanism to recognize and reward worthy creative contributions from workers.

Sixth, strengthen the connection of the working class with other classes. In the context of diverse social development, workers need to connect with intellectuals, farmers, and businessmen to form the great national unity bloc. Only when the working class accompanies other social forces will the strength of the nation be comprehensively promoted.

In short, promoting the potential of the working class in the era of national growth is an urgent but also promising task. With a large force, revolutionary tradition, creative spirit and the attention of the Party and State, Vietnamese workers will certainly continue to shine, becoming the main driving force to bring the nation into a period of brilliant development, building a strong and prosperous Vietnam, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers.
