Joining the heroic and exciting atmosphere of the people across the country competing to achieve achievements to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, after serious and responsible preparation, with the approval of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and Central organizations, today, the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor solemnly held the first Congress of Delegates for the 2025-2030 term.
On behalf of the Congress Presidium, I warmly welcome Comrade Do Van Chien - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front - and comrades representing leaders of Central agencies to attend and direct the Congress. We would like to warmly welcome 150 outstanding delegates - representing the will, belief and aspiration of more than 500 party members from 11 party organizations in the entire Party Committee who attended the Congress. Wishing the delegates to always be healthy and full of enthusiasm, to together bring our Congress to great success.

In order to thoroughly implement Directive No. 45-CT/TW dated April 14, 2025 of the Politburo, Plans and Guidelines of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central organizations, and the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the focus has been on leading and directing the careful preparation of conditions to serve the Congress. The Congress took place at a time of great significance: The whole country celebrates the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, the national renewal campaign initiated and led by our Party for nearly 40 years, has achieved many great achievements of historical significance, creating a foundation, potential and a solid position for the country's development in the new era, the era of national growth. Along with that, we have just completed an important step in the process of arranging the organization, apparatus, administrative units and officially operating the 2-level local government model. The Party and the State issued many new policies and resolutions with a strategic vision, affecting all aspects of life and the Trade Union organization.
In this solemn moment, with infinite respect and gratitude, we commemorate President Ho Chi Minh, Hero of National Liberation, World Cultural figure, Founder, Trainer and leader of our Party; under the leadership of the Party and Uncle Ho, our nation has gone from victory to victory. The Congress respectfully paid tribute to the heroes, martyrs, compatriots, comrades, cadres and union members who heroically sacrificed for the cause of national liberation, building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam.
In the past term, in the context of many difficulties, with the close attention and direction of the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, the Central organizations, the Party Committees of the previous Central Agencies, promoting the proactive and united spirit, the entire Party Committee focused on effectively leading the implementation of Party building work, leading the implementation of political tasks, achieving comprehensive and outstanding results. The results are vivid and clear evidence of the determination and creativity in leadership, direction and especially the spirit of solidarity, unity, and unity of the entire Party Committee; along with the response, joint efforts, and consensus of the team of civil servants, public employees, and workers, for the common goal of the strong development of the Party Committee and the Vietnam Trade Union.

Entering the new term, the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor faces many opportunities and advantages, but also faces many difficulties and challenges. Based on an objective and comprehensive assessment of the characteristics of the situation, with the motto of action "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development", the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposed an orientation for construction and development in the next 5 years, which is: "Building a clean and strong Party Committee; innovating thinking and vision; contributing to building a modern and strong working class in the new era".
This Congress has the following tasks: First, summarize and comprehensively evaluate the results of implementing political tasks and Party building work for the 2020 - 2025 term; seriously review the leadership and direction role of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; clarify the causes, especially the subjective causes of shortcomings, draw lessons; especially focus on setting out breakthrough goals, targets, tasks and solutions as a basis for building the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in the 2025 - 2030 term.
Second, the Congress will discuss and contribute opinions to the draft document submitted to the 14th National Congress of the Party and the draft Political Report submitted to the First National Fatherland Front and Central Organizations for the 2025-2030 term.

The first Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Party Committee is an important political event, marking the development of the Party Committee in the new period. During these days, all cadres, party members, and the masses in the entire Party Committee are looking towards the Congress, expressing their full confidence and placing their hopes on the wise decisions of the Congress. With the above important tasks, I suggest that each delegate uphold the sense of responsibility, focus on intelligence, carefully study documents and papers, actively participate in discussions and contribute to the basic and key issues of the Congress; well implement the regulations and rules of the Congress, the Party's regulations and guidelines have been disseminated in the advisory session, contributing to the success of the Congress.
With that meaning, belief and expectation, on behalf of the Congress Presidium, I would like to announce the opening of the first Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.
