Continuous recruitment
Returning to her hometown in Dong Thap after a long time working in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Le Thi Thao Nhi (23 years old, Thap Muoi district) was hired to work in the packaging department of Dai Phat Garments Company Limited (My Dong commune, Thap Muoi district). The salary is about 10 million VND/month (depending on work productivity) along with many levels of support for gasoline, accommodation... Ms. Nhi is relieved of the financial burden.
“At first I was worried because I had no skills, but I was very happy to be supported with an apprenticeship. I worked hard to get a good bonus at the end of the year,” said Nhi.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Han - the company's CEO - said that Nhi is one of many workers that the company is increasing its recruitment at this time.
“The market has recovered after a period of stagnation, the supply of goods is stable, so we seize the opportunity to produce. We continue to recruit with salaries starting from 10 million VND/month, along with vocational training to attract workers,” said Ms. Han.
In Can Tho, solving the human resource needs for the seafood processing industry at this time is also a difficult problem. Since the beginning of the year, the Indian Ocean Seafood Frozen Factory (Can Tho City) has recruited 1,000 people but the rate of resignation is quite high. Currently, the Factory continues to need to recruit about 200 workers to serve production at the end of the year.
Sitting and carefully writing each word on the application form, Ms. Phuong Thanh (living in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) said that she has been out of work for more than half a month but has not found a suitable new job, so she was forced to apply for unemployment benefits to survive temporarily.
According to Ms. Thanh, the recruitment situation at companies is also quite busy in the last months of the year. "I went to the employment service center for advice. I have been looking for a job for half a month but have not found a suitable place because the salary is always under 10 million VND" - Ms. Thanh said and said that if she cannot find a job, she will turn to vocational training.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Loc (living in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City), this is the second time he has come to the Ho Chi Minh City Employment Service Center and hopes to find a suitable job. "I hope I will get a job in the coming days" - Mr. Loc shared.
Apply retention policy
Companies in the Mekong Delta region apply many policies, including balancing recruitment and retention of human resources.
Mr. Vu Hai Nam - Head of Planning and Human Resources Department of An Duong Seafood Frozen Factory (Can Tho) - said: "The company has introduced a recruitment allowance policy, diligence bonus... to encourage workers to work hard as well as attract local labor force".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh - Head of Human Resources Department, An Giang SamHo Company (An Giang) - informed that the company currently has many welfare and allowance policies for employees such as diligence bonuses, travel allowances, support for raising children under 6 years old... When joining the company, employees will be trained on welfare policies, rules and regulations for 2 days; after that, they will be trained on working skills so that employees can start their work in the best way.
“The company pays by time but receives products, which means that unskilled workers will have a guaranteed living, while skilled workers will have the opportunity to strive for a better salary (from 10 to 15 million VND/month)” - said the CEO of Dai Phat Garments Company Limited.
According to Ms. Nguyen Hoang Hieu - Director of the Center for Human Resource Demand Forecasting and Labor Market Information of Ho Chi Minh City, based on the results of the labor supply and demand survey, it shows that the human resource demand of key industrial groups needs from 12,023 - 12,824 jobs, accounting for 15.39%; the service sector mainly needs from 47,583 - 50,755 jobs, accounting for 60.91%.
The demand for trained workers is about 68,324 - 72,879 jobs, accounting for 87.46% of the total demand for human resources. Of which, university degree or higher accounts for 20.66%, the demand for recruitment at the level of unskilled workers is about 9,796 - 10,449 jobs, accounting for a relatively low proportion of 12.54% of the total demand for human resources.
Ms. Hieu recommends that in order to have a good and stable job, employees need to proactively equip themselves with professional knowledge, professional skills, and work attitudes. At the same time, they need to actively study, improve foreign language skills, the ability to apply information technology, and proactively update new technologies.
