The labor market is bustling thanks to Long Thanh airport
According to the provincial Department of Home Affairs, there are currently 52 industrial parks in operation in Dong Nai. The labor market in the whole province is estimated to have more than 2.4 million workers, of which the labor force working in industrial parks (IPs) accounts for more than 700,000 people.
It is forecasted that in 2026, when Long Thanh airport officially comes into operation, the province's labor market will continue to be vibrant, attracting more demand for labor recruitment in the area with about 55,000 workers. The fields with high demand are manufacturing industry, information technology, automation, logistics, renewable energy, etc.
However, according to the provincial Department of Home Affairs, the gap between supply and demand in the area is still large, especially in the group of technical workers and highly skilled workers. Some training majors and occupations are not really suitable for the production and business needs of enterprises; the rate of students and graduates working in the right training major is still low, estimated at about 65%.
Of which, the labor shortage in industrial parks in the final period of 2025 is estimated at about 35,621 people, mainly concentrated in the group of technical workers and skilled workers.
In addition, the source of high-quality labor has not met the development requirements of high-tech industries, especially digital transformation, semiconductor microchip technology, automation, while the training structure is still more towards traditional engineering fields.
The supply-demand comparison table by level shows that the total labor recruitment demand of enterprises is 139,331 workers, but the supply only meets 16,128 workers.
According to the report of the Dong Nai Provincial Employment Service Center, in the past time, the province recorded 5,657 businesses registering for labor recruitment needs. In particular, the Long Thanh airport project is preparing to operate and neighboring supporting industries are attracting a large number of high-quality human resources.
Developing a comprehensive project for human resource development, associated with Long Thanh airport
Sharing at the 2025 Labor Market Supply - Demand Connection Seminar in Dong Nai province, human resource representatives of companies in Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park, Tran Bien ward, commented that the current labor shortage greatly affects the production goals of businesses, especially skilled workers. In the long term, there needs to be a synchronous connection to the labor market, needs, and occupational fields for appropriate training and for workers to easily have jobs after graduation.
The Provincial Management Board of Industrial Parks and Economic Zones believes that it is necessary to develop a comprehensive project for the development of human resources for industrial parks and economic zones for the period 2026-2030. Including key industry groups: Semiconductors - microchips; Automation industry; Logistics - supply chain; High technology associated with Long Thanh airport. There is a mechanism to support social housing for workers, prioritizing clean land near industrial parks; Accelerating strategic transport routes to serve labor movement.
For the Department of Education and Training and vocational training institutions, it is necessary to review training programs according to the orders of enterprises in the industrial park; Expand training in the fields of microchip, robots, automation, electromechanics, logistics; Apply a dual training model - 70% practical training, 30% theory.
According to the provincial Department of Home Affairs, in terms of developing high-quality human resources, Dong Nai University is being invested in and upgraded to become a high-quality human resource training center in the Southeast region; training about 8,000 students each year. Dong Nai province has signed a cooperation agreement with Ho Chi Minh City National University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Lac Hong University in the fields of AI, automation, logistics, and smart urban management. Over 2,000 cadres, civil servants and public employees were trained and fostered in the period of 2023-2025 (including digital transformation classes, leadership skills, human resource management).
