Timely care for workers
The Yen Bai Provincial Federation of Labor currently manages 11 trade unions at the grassroots level, more than 1,000 grassroots trade unions (CDCS) with over 44,000 union members. In recent times, trade unions at all levels have had many innovations in activities, widely implementing emulation movements and campaigns, attracting a large number of union members and workers to respond.
In 2024, trade unions at all levels supported the construction of houses for 17 families of workers and civil servants (CNVCLD) in difficulty and with serious illnesses (40 million VND/house); supported 51 union members whose houses were completely collapsed due to storm No. 3 with a total amount of more than 3.2 billion VND. At the same time, more than 13 billion VND and 104 tons of goods have been mobilized, received and effectively distributed to support union members, employees and relatives affected by natural disasters.
Mr. Nguyen Chuong Phat - Chairman of the Yen Bai Provincial Federation of Labor - said that in recent times, trade unions at all levels in Yen Bai province have also increased dialogue at the workplace, implemented democratic regulations at the grassroots level, signed and implemented collective labor agreements, participated in supervising the implementation of laws, policies and regimes directly related to employees; promptly grasped the aspirations of union members... Along with that, legal consulting activities for employees and employees continued to receive attention.

The fulcrum of union members in difficulty
Ms. Phan Mui Say (Thong Nhat commune, Lao Cai city) has been a worker at Thanh Cong Trading Joint Stock Company for more than 13 years. Ms. Say's family situation is very difficult as she is the main breadwinner in the family, her husband is often sick, unemployed, and her two young children are still in school; the average income is about 900,000 VND/person/month. Her family lives in a temporary wooden house that has seriously degraded.
Understanding the family situation, the Company's grassroots trade union proposed the superior trade union and helped her to complete the procedures to receive support to build the "Trade Union Shelter". The company also gave her family a part of construction materials. After the construction time, the solid level 4 house was completed, helping the family to have a stable accommodation, she was drunk to work.
Mr. Nguyen Van Huy is a worker at Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemical Joint Stock Company. Recently, after a periodic health check-up, he was discovered to have a serious illness. The family's economy was not abundant, while the large amount of money for treatment made him and his relatives worried. Understanding the concerns of union members, the company's Trade Union has allocated funds and at the same time launched a campaign for all officers, union members, and workers of the unit to support and help him with an amount of more than 114 million VND. The above gift helps Mr. Huy be more optimistic and feel secure in treating his disease.
It is known that trade unions at all levels in Lao Cai province coordinate with departments, branches, localities and enterprises to support, help, and give meaningful and practical gifts to thousands of union members and employees in difficult circumstances, those who have suffered from work accidents, occupational diseases, serious illnesses and children of workers, orphaned and disabled workers, etc.
According to Mr. Dang Dinh Chung - Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial Federation of Labor, the unit has signed with 17 enterprises in the area to implement a discount policy for union members when purchasing and using consumer goods and services, and more than 22,000 union members have benefited with an amount of about 5.6 billion VND.
With many flexible, creative, specific and meaningful approaches in the mountainous provinces, it has contributed to improving the material and spiritual life of union members and employees, thereby enhancing the position, role and prestige of the Trade Union organization.
