According to the Vinh Long Provincial Federation of Labor, in recent times, grassroots trade unions in the area have implemented many models of caring for the lives of workers and laborers (NLD) in diverse forms, suitable for the characteristics of each target group.
Notable are the programs "Union Meal", "Union Shelter", "Gameshow Tan Ca Hanh", "Gameshow Rung Dong Vang", "Zero-dong Booth" and "Tet Sum Vay". Through these activities, thousands of union members have been promptly supported with food, necessities, housing, and many activities to improve their spiritual life, helping workers feel secure in sticking with the enterprise and the Trade Union organization.
Ms. Khoi Tuong Di - a union member of Huy Phong Company Limited - said that her family had many difficulties with housing, having to live in a dilapidated, leaky house. Thanks to the "Union Shelter" program, she was supported with 60 million VND to build a new, spacious house.
Ms. Tran Thi Bich - a worker at Long Duc Industrial Park Garment Company - said that the attention of the union has helped her and many colleagues have more motivation to work. "When problems arise about rights, the trade union promptly takes action to protect us so that we can enjoy them in accordance with regulations. Thanks to that, we can rest assured to stay with the company for a long time" - Ms. Bich said.
According to many workers at enterprises in the province, these caring activities not only solve immediate difficulties but also demonstrate the long-term companionship of the trade union with employees.
Ms. Kim Thi Mac Ka Ra - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. branch in Vinh Long - said that the branch currently has more than 5,000 workers and union members. The union always puts the rights and lives of employees first, each year it coordinates with the board of directors to build new benefits and maintain many social security activities.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Chairman of the Vinh Long Provincial Federation of Labor - the local trade unions have promoted their role in caring for and protecting the rights of workers. Many good models and creative approaches have created trust and attracted workers to participate in the Trade Union organization. In the coming time, the Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to support and guide grassroots unions to innovate their methods of operation, enhance dialogue, collective bargaining, and build harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations. Mr. Linh commented that it is the attachment of union members to the union that will be the foundation for building a strong union organization, meeting the requirements of the new situation. The efforts of the Trade Union in Vinh Long are affirming its role as a solid support for employees. Timely support and sharing from the Trade Union organization not only helps union members feel secure in their work but also contributes to creating a stable, cohesive and sustainable working environment and development.
