On August 19, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province held an inauguration ceremony for an essential infrastructure project to support the development of fruit and ornamental plant growing areas in Mo Cay Bac and Cho Lach areas.
According to the report of the Vinh Long Province Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board, the project is implemented in Hung Khanh Trung and Nhuan Phu Tan communes, equal to the central budget in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021 - 2025.
The total investment is 150 billion VND to build Cai Hang culvert with a aperture of 30 meters, a traffic bridge on the culvert, connecting infrastructure and a management house for operation.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Quynh Thien said that the Co Cay Bac and Cho Lach areas are the center for the production of seedlings, ornamental flowers and specialty fruit trees, but have been frequently affected by salinity intrusion, high tides and flooding for many years, especially in the dry seasons of 2015' 2016 and 2019' 2020.
According to Mr. Thien, the project put into use will help control salinity - keep sweetness, regulate water for more than 5,260 hectares, protect production and increase the value of fruit and ornamental plant growing areas.
Mr. Thien emphasized that the project with the bridge and approach road not only completes traffic connections, reduces transportation costs, opens up the direction of ecotourism development, but also contributes to ensuring security - defense, and responding to climate change.
The inauguration of the project also has a special meaning as a practical activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, contributing to creating momentum for sustainable development for the Vinh Long fruit growing area.
