102 female union officials were honored by the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor at the "Outstanding Female Union Officials of 2024" Conference held on October 25.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, as of June 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation managed nearly 810,000 female employees out of a total of nearly 1.54 million workers, accounting for 53%, of which female workers in the non-state sector were nearly 648,000 people, accounting for 51%.
Recently, the Women's Union at all levels has advised to effectively implement the work of mobilizing female workers and achieved some results.
Union welfare program for female workers and their children with many items discounted from 10% to 30%.
The "HCMC Trade Union" scholarship program has been implemented to motivate union members to strive to study, build a team of employees with good professional skills, meeting the requirements of the international integration period. Up to now, 370 scholarships have been awarded, with a total amount of nearly 2.2 billion VND.
Thanh Da Summer Camp annually attracts nearly 4,000 children of workers; Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has supported hundreds of children of union members, workers in difficult circumstances, and union members affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to participate in the summer camp.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Phung Thai Quang - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - affirmed that Vietnamese women always play an important role in protecting the Fatherland and building the country, preserving and cultivating cultural identity, national traditions, and family happiness.
“Female union officials play an important role and contribute to the implementation of the functions of the union organization, especially in representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests as well as taking care of the jobs and lives of union members and workers, propagating the Party's guidelines, policies, and guidelines, the State's laws, and regulations of the Vietnam Trade Union to union members and workers. Thereby, contributing to building increasingly harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations in enterprises,” Mr. Quang emphasized.
The conference also heard Dr. Bui Thi Ngoc Trang - Vice President of the Academy of Cadres of Ho Chi Minh City - give a talk on the topic "Quality of Vietnamese women in the period of industrialization, modernization and international integration".
