At 6:00 p.m. on September 30, Mr. Pham Duy Dinh, a tenant in Nhue village, and his wife and children used a trash can to drain the water from the rented house.
The continuous heavy rain caused the water to rise. Outside the road, the water was higher than the ankles, overflowing into the yard and rooms. Because the floor was lower than the yard, water flooded into the house.

"As soon as I get home from work, I immediately mobilize people to use trash vs. basins to "viscerate" the water. It took 10-15 minutes for the room to be without water, but it was still very damp. With the flooded, damp floors like this, I am very worried about the risk of electric shock" - Mr. Dinh shared.
According to Mr. Dinh, at noon, the rented room was flooded once, and in the evening, the water flooded again. When he returned, the sandals left in front of the rented room had drifted away.

Mr. Dinh said that the 2 underpasses near where he was staying could not be reached due to deep flooding and disrupted daily activities.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, a renter in Nhue village, also said that this morning, after the night shift, the road on her way home was deeply flooded, she tried to walk so her engine failed and she had to walk. "The floodwaters disrupted the lives of workers," she shared.
Ms. Tam is worried about whether it will continue to rain, because if it continues to rain, it will be very difficult to go to work tomorrow.
At 7:00 p.m. on September 30, Ms. Bui Thi Hoa - a worker renting a room in Duong Noi ward (Hanoi) was impatient because her husband and 2 children were working and had not returned from school.
Ms. Hoa said that on the morning of September 30, her two children (in grades 2 and 4) still went to school because there was no notice of school closure. The couple planned to keep their children at home, while Hoa stopped working at home with her children. After that, seeing the rain stop, her husband took her children to school, but she still went to work.
On the afternoon of September 30, hearing that the rental area was flooded all over, Ms. Hoa asked to take a day off work 1 hour early to go home to pick up her child.
"However, unlike what I predicted, the floodwaters were too deep, the deepest since I rented a house here. I did not dare to pick up my child because I was afraid that if I was weak in the steering hand, I would be dangerous to pass. I called my husband to pick up the child, while I was worried about preparing rice and water. I returned home at 5:45 p.m., and at 7 p.m. my father and I were still stuck on the road, about 700 meters from home because there was no way in. My husband plans to park the car at the cultural house, carry the young child and take the older child home," Ms. Hoa said worriedly.

Mr. Bui Quang Duc, a worker renting a house in Nam Phu commune, also had a difficult day due to flooding.
On the morning of September 30, Mr. Duc went from home to the company, the 1.5km journey took him nearly 2 hours. "When I arrived, I borrowed a uniform from a colleague to use instead of a wet one," said Mr. Duc.
In the afternoon, Mr. Duc asked to leave early because his wife informed him that the rented house had reached the foot of the bed. Worried about his wife and 2 young children, Mr. Duc bought more cakes, cookies, bottled water... to prevent power outages and to give the children food.

"I have rented a house here for 5 years, and have never seen such a huge flood. Every road to the boarding house flows like a stream. Tomorrow, the children will have a day off according to the latest announcement of the school. I also planned in advance, if I was not given a day off, I would still let my children take a day off because it was too dangerous to travel," said Mr. Duc.
