When browsing the web, users just need to click on the left icon of the address bar, a small window will pop up to display an overview of the store's reputation. Information summarized by AI includes product quality, prices, customer service and return policies.
Currently, this feature is only available to users in the US, in English, and is only available on the Chrome version for computers. Google has not confirmed whether it will expand to mobile devices.
The new feature is seen as Google's next step in the commercial AI race, in competition with Amazon - a platform that has used AI to summarize product reviews.
Previously, Google also introduced the ability to test virtual clothes and makeup, as well as personalized product suggestion tools and track improved prices.
Integrating AI to evaluate online stores not only helps users save time looking up, but also contributes to limiting the risk of buying the wrong quality goods or meeting unprestigious sellers. In the context of increasingly sophisticated e-commerce scams, automatic evaluation tools from many reliable sources will be an important filter to help consumers make more accurate decisions.
However, Google will need to solve the problem of expanding the scope of support beyond the US, improving diverse language processing capabilities and ensuring accuracy when AI synthesizes information from a series of sources with different reliability.
