On the morning of May 14, Da Nang City People's Committee organized a ceremony to commend organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements in science and technology activities and innovative startups.
The commendation ceremony is part of a series of activities to celebrate Vietnam Science, Technology and Innovation Day 18.
The activity aims to encourage scientific research, technology development, and at the same time honor organizations and individuals who have made positive contributions to science and technology activities, contributing to the socio-economic development of the city.
In 2025, the Department of Science and Technology received a total of 329 applications for consideration for commendation, including 2 inventions, 8 useful solutions granted protection certificates and 319 scientific articles published in international journals.
As a result, the Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee issued Decision No. 1897/QD-UBND dated May 2, 2026, awarding certificates of merit to organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements in science and technology activities with a total bonus of more than 215 million VND.
In which, awards were given to authors and groups of authors of 1 invention and 3 useful solutions granted protection certificates; authors and co-authors of 61 scientific articles published in prestigious scientific journals.
In addition, implementing Decision No. 752/QD-UBND of the Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee on approving the list of annual emulation topics, the Department of Science and Technology launched an emulation movement in innovative startup activities right from the beginning of 2025.
As a result, the Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee issued Decision No. 1744/QD-UBND dated April 21, 2026, awarding certificates of merit to 9 collectives and 8 individuals with outstanding achievements in innovative startup activities in 2025.
Speaking to direct at the ceremony, Mr. Ho Quang Buu - Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee emphasized that the city is paying special attention to science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, considering this as the core driving force for development in the new stage.
According to Mr. Buu, Da Nang is currently simultaneously implementing 3 major projects including the science and technology project; the innovation project, the innovation city and the digital transformation project and the smart city towards entering the Top 50 smart cities globally by 2030.
Mr. Ho Quang Buu believes that science and technology should not only stop at research, but most importantly, products must be created, with scientific basis to prove quality and practical value, especially in the field of medicinal herbs to be eligible to access the international market.
At the same time, the city is also preparing to approve nearly 20 separate mechanisms to support science and technology, creating conditions for organizations and individuals to continue to promote the role of innovation nucleus in the coming time.
