Recently officially launched, the latest low-cost iPhone model in Apple's iPhone 16 series was introduced with many modern features similar to the same luxury smartphones of the same company with compact size and affordability.
A small change that many users consider when choosing the iPhone 16e is Apple's removal of MagSafe support.
MagSafe is a wireless charging technology integrated into the iPhone 12 series and above with the aim of enhancing the wireless charging experience for users, since then, it has been supported on all new iPhone models except the iPhone SE in 2022. MagSafe on iPhone allows safe and convenient wireless charging before Qi2 charging is launched.
MagSafe is Apple's new ecosystem, a place Apple creates so that third-party manufacturers can freely create wireless accessories for their iPhones. Over the years, Apple has provided a MagSafe Wallet, various iPhone MagSafe backpacks, MagSafe pin, and an ecosystem of third-party MagSafe accessories.
For a feature that has become too popular and familiar in the field of iPhone accessories, its absence on the new iPhone 16e may cause inconvenience and waste.
For example, a user uses the back cover and MagSafe TVrill on a car with a 4K Apple TV to turn FaceTime on through the iPhone's Camera feature every time he drives. If you buy a new iPhone 16e, this phone will not be available with the above MagSafe accessories, something that those who are used to the integrity of the iOS ecosystem may find uncomfortable with.
However, in practice, not having MagSafe will not affect you too much because the wireless charging feature is still available for Qi2 chargers; it is noteworthy that since Qi2 was introduced, inheriting most of the technology that Apple developed for MagSafe, the wireless charging feature has become much better than before MagSafe was born.
The only difference between these two charging standards is ownership. Qi2 is an open standard that can appear on both Android and iPhone devices and accessories. In contrast, MagSafe on iPhone is wholly owned by Apple, so it only appears on iPhone devices and works best with MFi (Made For iPhone) or made for MagSafe- certified accessories.
