The National Scientific Conference in Quang Tri discussed breakthrough solutions in science and technology to promote green transformation and sustainable development of the country.

Discussing mechanisms for sustainable development

On October 17, in Quang Tri, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee coordinated with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee to organize a National Scientific Conference "Breakthrough in the development of science and technology to promote green transformation and sustainable development".

The workshop was attended by representatives of leaders of central and local departments, ministries and branches; leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Ministry of Finance; leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, along with many experts, scientists, researchers, representatives of enterprises, institutes and schools across the country.

The workshop focused on discussing 5 major groups of contents: forecasting international and domestic context on the impact of climate change; the role of science and technology in promotinggreen transformation; building an innovation ecosystem and supporting institutions; practically implementing green transformation models in sectors, localities, and enterprises; along with that are key solutions and tasks to realize Resolution 57-NQ/TW and Conclusion 81-KL/TW of the Central Committee on science, technology development and environmental protection.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Bui The Duy - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology said that the development of science, technology and innovation is a decisive factor in helping Vietnam achieve the goal of becoming a modern industrialized country by 2030, moving towards a developed country with high income by 2045. According to him, green transformation is a prerequisite, not only a strategic choice but an order of the times, a commitment to future generations.

Towards a green economy

Mr. Hoang Nam - Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee said that Quang Tri is making efforts in developing renewable energy, circular economy and green agriculture.

The province considers science and technology as a central driving force to realize the goal of sustainable growth, both economic development and environmental protection.

Delegates agreed that in order to truly and effectively transform green, it is necessary to synchronize policies on institutions, finance, human resources, science - technology and social media, while promoting the role of businesses in researching, applying and commercializing green technology, strengthening international cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, climate technology and resource governance.

Many practical models were shared at the workshop such as smart agriculture, clean industry, environmentally friendly high-tech parks, contributing to spreading the spirit of innovation, applying scientific knowledge to serve sustainable development.

The workshop ended successfully, opinions and presentations will be compiled and recommended to the Party and State to build mechanisms and policies for the development of science and technology associated with green transformation, towards a green, prosperous and sustainable Vietnam in the new era.
