In recent days, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan (Hanoi) has continuously received information related to confirming subscribers on VNeID before the June 15th milestone. What worries him is that the phone number he has been using for more than 10 years is actually in his father's name.
Bank accounts, e-wallets, social insurance, even work applications all use this phone number. Before, I didn't think much because I still used it normally. When there was a new subscriber authentication regulation, I started worrying about whether to change numbers or not," Mr. Tuan shared.
Similarly, Ms. Tran Thu Ha (Hai Phong) said that the phone number she is using is registered from her student days under her older sister's name.
I have used this number for nearly ten years, all bank accounts are attached to it. If I have to remove the number or start over, it will be very troublesome because it is also related to many other online transactions and accounts," Ms. Ha said.
In fact, this is a fairly common situation today when many subscribers are registered many years ago under the name of relatives or others but are used stably for a long time.
What should actual users do?
According to network operators, the first thing users need to check is whose phone number they are currently using.
People can look up subscriber information on the network operator's application or through official support channels.
If you detect a phone number that is not in your name but is still being used frequently, users should not wait until an incident occurs to handle it.
Can transfer subscriber usage rights
In many cases, users and subscribers can go to the network operator's transaction point together to carry out procedures for transferring usage rights or updating owner information.
This is considered the safest solution if users want to continue using the phone number attached to important personal accounts for a long time.
Completing the transfer of usage rights helps synchronize subscriber information with actual users, while limiting risks arising in the future.
In case it is impossible to contact the person named
The biggest difficulty is cases where users can no longer contact the subscriber or no longer have complete related documents.
At that time, people should proactively contact the network operator to be guided according to each specific case.
Some telecommunications businesses currently have procedures to verify actual users before carrying out procedures related to subscribers.
Don't forget to update information with the bank
After completing the transfer of usage rights or changing subscriber information, people should also review the accounts linked to the phone number.
Ensuring that the actual phone number used matches the subscriber information will help limit risks when verifying accounts, restoring passwords or making online transactions in the future.
Do not wait until the SIM is processed
According to network operators, many people only start checking subscriber information when they receive notifications from network operators or when problems related to bank accounts arise.
However, proactively reviewing and standardizing information early will make the processing process much simpler, especially for phone numbers being used for many important services.
