Google Maps is adding a series of new features after a recent major upgrade. The most prominent is the information suggestion section for locations such as restaurants, hotels, and cinemas.
This feature uses artificial intelligence to scan comments and related information sources online, synthesizing them into short suggestions: Effective table arrangement, "secret" dishes, parking tips... Users can tap on each item to see details and continue to ask questions in the suggestion section below.
For electric vehicles, Google Maps will display the "most likely empty" charging station number when you get there. The system analyzes both actual data and the history of the station's operations to make predictions.
This feature will be rolled out globally on Android Auto and Google's platform- integrated devices, applying to hundreds of thousands of charging stations.
Google Maps is also starting to allow users to use nicknames and other representative photos when posting reviews, instead of having to use their real name in their account. Authentication is still done secretly to protect the system and prevent fake reviews. Users can set it by going to the Google Maps profile page and selecting a custom name and photo.
At the same time, the Explore section in Google Maps has also been renewed. The application will display popular restaurants, activities and locations, along with a list selected by reputable units and local influencers.
