It is difficult and dangerous, but to manage and support students in mountainous areas, for nearly a month, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thach Thao - teacher at Son Lien Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Son Tay Thuong commune) - and many colleagues have continuously overcome dozens of landslides to go to school.
Ms. Thao will take up the assignment at Son Tay Thuong highland school from 2024. Housing in Son Ha commune, about 40 km from the school, since the heavy rain at the end of October 2025, the roads have been continuously cut off due to landslides. There are days when young teachers have to travel for 3 - 4 hours, mostly on foot on the roads with landslides in the mountains and hills, to get to school.

The school where Ms. Thao teaches has 127 boarding students. Despite the difficult journey, the teachers still try to be present to take care of the students - from meals to sleep. Sharing with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Ms. Thao said: "The road is eroded, traveling is very difficult and dangerous, but as teachers in mountainous areas, you have to be pushed, because the students are waiting".
Mr. Pham Hong Khuyen - Chairman of Son Tay Thuong Commune People's Committee - said that the whole commune currently has 47 large and small landslides, cutting off many traffic routes. To ensure safety, the locality has allowed students to stay home from school. Every rainy season, the roads are buried by rocks and soil, making it even more difficult for teachers and students to travel. In addition to managing students staying at school, teachers also joined the commune's shock force to support landslide recovery and clear roads through the danger zone.
