Apple is testing a new feature in the upcoming iOS 26 update: FaceTime can automatically stop audio and images when detecting sensitive content such as bare photos in video calls.
The feature was quietly discovered in the developer beta, although Apple did not mention it in the official trailer at WWDC 2025.
According to information from the 9to5 Mac technology site (headquartered in the US), the system will display a warning notification when detecting a shirt, and temporarily stop calls with the warning line: "Adousts and videos are suspended because you may be displaying sensitive content. If you feel uncomfortable, you should end the call.
After that, users can choose to continue or end the call depending on the situation.
This new feature is an extension of the communication safety tools that Apple previously introduced to protect children.
Previously, these measures mainly focused on blurring sensitive photos in the messaging and Album sharing apps. However, the iOS 26 beta shows that the new feature is not limited to children's accounts, but is also enabled on some adult accounts. This is sparking controversy over privacy and system intervention.
The new feature is listed in the FaceTime settings under the name "Sensitive Content Warning".
The description says, Detect nudes before they are viewed on your device and get instructions to help make a safe choice. Apple does not have access to photos or videos.
This is a testament to Apple's commitment to privacy, as the entire detection process is handled by machine learning technology on the device, without sending data to the server. This means that Apple cannot store or view any sensitive content of users.
Currently, the feature is still in the testing phase. The iOS 26 public beta is expected to be released in July, allowing users to experience and evaluate.
Although this feature is controversial, Apple is clearly aiming to strengthen protective layers for users in an increasingly complex digital communication environment, especially for children and video- sensitivity situations.
