According to AFP, the iPhone 16e, Apple's latest generation and affordable smartphone, has entered the list of best-selling in Europe according to the March 2025 ranking published by market research company Counterpoint Research. However, initial sales have not been able to match the performance of previous mid-range iPhone SE models.
According to data from Counterpoint Research, the iPhone 16e, launched at the end of February 2025 and priced at "only" 719 Euros in France, ranked ninth among the best-selling smartphones in Europe in March 2025. This phone model accounts for 8% of iPhone sales across the continent.
However, this performance is not as good as its mid-range predecessors. In 2020, the second-generation iPhone SE took third place, accounting for 19,9% of Apple's sales in Europe in the first month of its market presence.
Two years later, the latest generation of iPhone SE entered the chart in sixth place, accounting for 12% of iPhone sales in Le Co Gia.
The price difference can explain this difference, as the iPhone 16e is significantly more expensive than the previous iPhone SE (priced at 489 Euros in 2020 and 529 Euros in 2022 respectively).
However, the iPhone 16e still ranked ninth in smartphone sales in Europe in the first month of launch. Its no surprise that Apple and Samsung dominate the top 10.
