According to data from the Domestic Market Management and Development Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the scale of Vietnam's retail market reached about 269 billion USD in 2025, with total retail sales of goods and service revenue growing by 9-10% compared to 2024.
The report also makes optimistic forecasts for the retail market from 2026 to 2030. With a large population, young population structure and increasing income, Vietnam is in the position of becoming one of the largest retail markets in the region.
For the convenience store segment alone, the annual growth rate is up to 13% from 2023 to 2028. When 73% of consumers shop according to the multi-channel model (according to research by Harvard Business Review), the requirements set for the information technology infrastructure of retailers are no longer limited to stability, but to real-time data processing capabilities and readiness for AI.
Faced with that trend, many units have cooperated to lay the foundation for AI in the retail sector, such as the case of the GreenNode platform and the 7-Eleven system. Accordingly, GreenNode will continue to upgrade and strengthen the cloud infrastructure for the entire 7-Eleven Vietnam system, ensuring stable 24/7 operation, flexible expansion according to scale and meeting international security standards.
Since 2020, VNG Cloud (now under GreenNode after merging the brand in December 2025) has operated a Cloud infrastructure platform for the entire system of more than 150 offline stores and nearly 1,500 points of sale on 7-Eleven Vietnam's e-commerce platforms.
Operating results in 2024 recorded clear improvements: the cancellation rate on GrabMart decreased to about 4.33%, the processing time of orders was shortened to less than 3 minutes, and the average value of each order increased by about 30%. At the store level, each point of sale only needs about two personnel to manage orders from multiple channels simultaneously, with technology costs maintained at about 550,000 VND per store and downtime almost zero.
Not only 7-Eleven, many large retail and supermarket systems in Vietnam such as AEON, WinMart or Co.opmart, Lotte Mart, Emart... have also strongly applied AI in operations from identification, customer service, cashless payment, optimization of goods layout... These things not only help optimize operation, reduce personnel costs but also improve customer experience, making shopping simpler and faster...
In general, investing in technology infrastructure is identified as a key factor for retail businesses to improve competitiveness and adapt to new consumer behaviors.
