On the afternoon of November 18, Ho Chi Minh City Creative Startup Center (SIHUB) together with AlterCOP, Hallo Win and partners in the innovation ecosystem organized a meeting program with the theme "Climate Tech - Together connecting to create impact", attracting the participation of hundreds of experts, speakers, and businesses.
This is part of AlterCOP - an initiative in parallel with the United Nations Summit - COP, implemented in the form of series of events, seminars and activities in many countries. In Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Science and Technology presided over and assigned SIHUB to implement.
The representative of the organizing committee emphasized that the event is an opportunity for the community to better understand Climate Tech (climate technology), which is part of environmental technology, with many solutions focusing on solving climate change.
Through experiential activities, discussions and connections, sharing of founders in building environmental technology solutions to contribute to spreading awareness, encouraging innovation and promoting cooperation, towards a green and sustainable future for Vietnam and the region.
Sharing at the event, Dr. Tran Thanh Tam - Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Technology and External Relations of Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment presented the current situation and picture of Climate Tech in Vietnam. He emphasized that climate change is one of the major challenges globally as well as in Vietnam.

That has contributed to many major problems such as high temperatures, droughts, landslides, floods in many places... Therefore, finding solutions to reduce climate change is an urgent problem, especially in the context of Vietnam's commitment to Net Zero by 2050.
He emphasized that Vietnam has great potential for developing Climate Tech such as large offshore wind energy, which can develop into clean energy in the future; promoting the use of electric vehicles to help reduce emissions from the transportation industry; the trend of building green projects; carbon recovery and storage; developing energy storage solutions...
However, there are many challenges from financial issues, infrastructure, limited technology transfer, shortage of highly skilled labor, incomplete legal framework, etc.
Therefore, the problem is to create a good ecosystem, effectively connecting government agencies, research institutes, foreign companies, startups in Vietnam... to be able to create synchronous and effective solutions.
Also at the event, Mr. Hong Quoc Cuong - representative of Rayan Tech emphasized that environmental technology brings many opportunities for businesses and founders in Vietnam, especially in the context of Vietnam having a strong innovation ecosystem.
Through the event, speakers and experts proposed many solutions and applications on environmental technology to be able to solve challenges related to climate change, to create a positive impact on the economy, society, environment, and at the same time contribute to the national common goal of carbon neutrality and Net Zero in the 2030-2050 period.
